the infamous hatch rattle is fixed in Australia under warranty and automatically done whether you a have an issue or not. Mine was done at its 3000k service. Mine didn't have a rattle and after 6 months not a squeak, smooth as silk. We have the RWD model only.

Absolutely perfect other than the dreaded hatch rattle. First time the TSB fix worked for about a month. It only makes a noise now on large bumps, but unfortunately I live in Michigan and 3rd world, war torn countries have smoother roads. I did the electrical tape trick and that's worked so far. Went back to the dealer just to get it documented the 2nd time before I did the tape trick.

I almost selected "the car is perfect", because it almost is. The "interior defect" amounts to one little loop of stitching on the upper right side of the front passenger seat. That's all I've noticed in nearly three months.

The "technology" defects are three: the NAV isn't as up to date as Google Maps. Had I followed the NAV's chosen route I'd have high centered on a concrete planter box median in making the recommended left turn! The parking assist does not turn off automatically when you hit "12.4 mph". Big deal. And the playback software puts a default gap between each track, making listening to "seamless" music very annoying.

Otherwise, I'd have to say that the Stinger GT1 I enjoy is "perfect". Of course, not being a perfectionist, I haven't gone over the entire car with a fine toothed comb inspection. Oh, there was one tiny blatant defect which I had the service department fix (took c. twenty minutes): the driver's floor mat hook on the left was unattached and some slacker had tried to glue it down on top of the carpet?!

May I ask which dealership did you go to, to get yours done? I am currently placing two pieces of tissue at the hatch stopper to stop the rattle.

All dealers will cover the rattle under warranty with the next service.

Just went to the service and asked for their fix. They told me the problem wasn't with the hatch stopper, as they replaced the stopper on a few stingers and the rattle still exist. They said it was with the hydraulic boot release (forgot the name for it). Kia is going to contact us in the next few weeks (for oz) for more info on the fix.

Is the bolster leather? I've wondered if only the seat bottom and back are leather. The other pics of wear to the bolsters others have posted don't look like leather to me either.

Yes. My Red Nappa is very similar (although a longer line of color that is rubbing off). It appears to be only the color, not material but time will tell. Mine has 5.5k miles after 8 months.

There is a thread on this. Its the way you are getting into you car as you are rubbing the bolster. I dont have any issues.

Yes- I don't think it's getting worse since I "learned" how to get in and out without rubbing.

Every rubbing leather case is involving the Nappa. Get in and out dexterously and I bet the problem will be solved. People slide in and out, lazy-like. And then wonder why their furniture looks like hell.

"Min-jun", the S. Korean seat test dummy weighs "only" 165 lbs. But he did get in and out of the seat 20K times to make sure the upholstery will last at least 13 years of entering and exiting the car four times a day. Get in and out of your cars like Min-jun. Research this and find out what he is doing to make the seats last so long.

Ive only driven the car like 4 times...lol 140 miles on her today...daaamn what abuse....so me being old and pretty much deaf to high tones...Too much gunplay and rock concerts oh well...BUT this premium audio pkg when using a usb stick lets me hear symbols on the drums and other highs...Hell I don't care whether the wheels fall off....I can hear the dadgum music!!! Hell yes.....just got a new home theatre system that doesn't give me the highs as well as the E car......hmmmmm ill buy me some door panels with speakers and the kia radio and put em in the man cave ! Wash

My understanding is that "leather trim" is standard on all Stingers. That "trim" means the main seat bottoms and backs; that synthetic is for the rest; and that nappa is for the GT2 only (US trims, here). So what is wearing on the seat bolsters is not leather, it is the synthetic. I don't know if the synthetic on the napps is softer than that used on all the other trims; but I suspect that it is, in order for the feel to match the softer feel of the nappa. It would be unsatisfying to have a soft nappa seat bottom and back, joined to a stiffer synthetic.
