Could someone please post some recent pics of their paint chips? I had a few to start in the silky silver but they no longer seem to be an issue......subject to change of course. Thanks.

no way this is from normal driving, just the location of those chips its impossible for rocks or gravel to cause that.

Mine on blue car all go to bare metal and the yellow seems to go down to primer

I hope y’all get Kia to pay for these issues. Some of those “chips” are way too uniform to be actual chips. Thought I was in big trouble a few hours ago when the hail started. Fortunately, it didn’t get beyond marble size. No damage. Had 3 vehicles sitting out, so it could have been ugly. I tried to move the Stinger under a huge tree to blunt most of the hail. Those suckers hurt when they hit you.

New info from another thread:

Spoke to a reliable source re: sunset yellow paint issue & yes it is a problem when chipped it is apparently peeling & has something to do with the pigment in the paint & I’m told that Kia AU is buying back/offering refunds on yellow vehicles. They also mentioned similar/same problem with blue but couldn’t confirm which blue.
Note, that although my source is reliable this is still only 3rd party advise & could only be substantiated by an owner in this situation or a written recall from Kia.

Should merge the two main threads on this ... good info in both.

Thats awesome that they are doing the buyback/refund on the yellows Down Under, but that kind of wouldn't work here in the US unless they plan to make another run of 400 and replace them all..... Everyone that I have talked to about the car, excecpt Kia of course, had no idea that the yellows were only limited to 400 units here in the US. I really hope I get an answer this week and get this fixed ASAP as I'm going on vacation at the end of July and definitely want to take the Stinger on vacation..... Can't be pulling up to a nice hotel in a dam Rio w/ crank windows..........

FYI, if they want to make a run of 400 Sunset Yellows with some performance parts and 500+ HP to replace ours with, I could probably be convinced to wait a few months on it.......just saying

I wonder how this will be handled. Will they offer refunds (which I am not interested in)? Will they take the cars back to be repainted or will they allow us to have our own shop of choice repaint the car?

Exactly. I dam sure do not want to give up my car after the hell most of us went through just to get a Stinger, much less a yellow. I'll take a respray and from what I've read a local shop does the work. @Bren1979 had his redone at a shop local to him in Australia, if I'm not mistaken.

Right now, all we can really do is wait and see what course of action Kia takes. Repainting cars at $15-20k each adds up quick, but so does trying to replace said vehicles as well. This is going to get very interesting very quickly with this solution.

At least, they have put a stop sale on known problem colors right now and not just keep selling them to piss off customers *cough cough* BMW *cough cough*

You cant tell me that paint shop X is the same as paint shop Y. Difference of technique/procedures.

Right, I agree. But I have a paint shop who has done very good work for me in the past. So I would at least consider them an option depending on what Kia decides to do. Of course, I will likely defer to Kia HQ on this.

I asked our rep.......When might we hear something official? No time frame has been given I was told.

Frankly, I might be more interested in a swap/buyback than a repaint given Kia making the decision about who repaints it locally...

Their first excuse was normal road wear, second will be my car isn't blue/yellow. Calling it before my appointment tomorrow.

Who's excuse it was normal road wear? The dealer or Kia? If a dealer tries to tell you that, tell them to get bent. This has nothing to do with a dealer at all. @KiaofMuncie could back me up on this as well, this is 100% from Kia. A dealer can't tell you yay or nay on this issue, no matter how much BS they try to spit at you.
