Who's excuse it was normal road wear? The dealer or Kia? If a dealer tries to tell you that, tell them to get bent. This has nothing to do with a dealer at all. @KiaofMuncie could back me up on this as well, this is 100% from Kia. A dealer can't tell you yay or nay on this issue, no matter how much BS they try to spit at you.

That was the dealer back in February when I thought I had to deal with this on my own. They spent less than five minutes with the car. I won't let this different dealership tomorrow do the same thing :)

I was just saying if they know about the blue/yellow then they may just claim it's only those colors. I'll tell them I already have a case and to just take the pics. Question, are they expected to find all the faults or am I expected to point them all out? After discovering those new ones last week I'm not sure how many more there are elsewhere.

I'd point out what you can visually see.

Make a detailed list, and go over every single spot with the tech who is taking pics. If they give you 1 sideways glance or excuse, call the Stinger Customer Service standing right there. Once they take the pics, give them the case number, who you spoke with that gave you the case number and tell them that they are expecting the pics within 24 hours.

This isn't their money spent on the car, its ours, so they don't have any interest in doing it.

That's what I planned on doing. I guess I just need who ever is reviewing the case (not the dealership) to understand the context that while all of the chips where down to the metal (or so they looked) and on weird spots on the car, I've continously touched them up since January so many of them are not gonna look like the chips in this thread. I'm just glad I found more last week because I've left those untouched lol and hopefully they take the pictures I have from then in consideration too, and not just the dealers

@IBurton What color is your Stinger?

Not all colors? I was hoping that was the case I have ceramic grey... doesn't make sense that different painting procedures would be used per color...? Or does it?

Right now only two colors verified by KIA. Yellow and Blue. Other colors are having issues per forum members. I have not seen anyone complain about Ceramic Gray. Do you have issues?

I tried to upload a table to track the known members and their cars. The forum isnt allowing me to attach the file, file size is too large. I received a reply today from a client specialist indicating they received my images and are going to be reviewed by other parties at Kia. The message was a bit cryptic. Best of luck to everyone and lets hope that Kia responds to this issue.

Anyone with Red HiChroma having an issue? I haven't as of yet.

I thought red was ok. Obviously blue and yellow are most effected.

How much red talk have you seen posted?

You are an invaluable source of info here; Thanks and please keep us informed.

I do not recall any complaints about the red, but then again I am sure there are 100 lurkers on here for everyone one of us who post.

Yes I do, I have small chips ~1mm on the passenger side. The car is a week old.

Thats awesome that they are doing the buyback/refund on the yellows Down Under, but that kind of wouldn't work here in the US unless they plan to make another run of 400 and replace them all..... Everyone that I have talked to about the car, excecpt Kia of course, had no idea that the yellows were only limited to 400 units here in the US. I really hope I get an answer this week and get this fixed ASAP as I'm going on vacation at the end of July and definitely want to take the Stinger on vacation..... Can't be pulling up to a nice hotel in a dam Rio w/ crank windows..........

FYI, if they want to make a run of 400 Sunset Yellows with some performance parts and 500+ HP to replace ours with, I could probably be convinced to wait a few months on it.......just saying

I posted an article a while back:

Kia is looking at making the Yellow a production run color in the US

Kia is looking at making the Yellow a production run color

The yellow was always full production in AU, now it has been pulled due to issues.

All units are painted in Korea.

First thing they have to do is analysis, then process and/or materials changes.

2018's have been done with production for a while.

We're looking at 2019 models, if they can correct the issues.

Kia is doing the right thing here. Stop sale. Domestic manufacturers just keep shipping them.

As I posted earlier, my silky silver seems ok at 2300 miles and 4 months. Survived marble size hail yesterday as well. Feel very bad for all who have this issue. This is going to be very bad press for Kia, no matter how they handle it now. Everyone will still point fingers and say see, it’s still just a Kia.

My red one is fine with twice as many miles as the yellow. I do have two chips on the red but they seem natural. The 2 on the yellow are the ones I am concerned about

178EE102-3687-403B-B241-E3F83DE431BD.webp I posted this earlier. I found a chip at the rear edge of the hood on the driver side, days after getting it May 18th. The dealer is getting a touch up for me, wasn’t in stock in red. Odd color not to have stock? OK, it’s near where the wiper arm would strike but not really as I can pull up arm and it’s not near the chip zone. So some magic would need to apply. A rock hitting at that speed to do the damage would have to have struck the windshield too and would have left a mark, at least logic would seem so. Right now it’s the only one I seem to have. Clear Bra goes on next week. I hope it’s a one off and not just the first. But I am concerned.

Maybe it is time for Sal to send out a note to all members here to take an official poll of color, age and chip count/location. I’m not an attorney, but I can smell a class action case here. What does this do to the value of the car?

The dealer has zero say in this fight. From what we have gathered...nobody in North America has any say. This is all coming from Korea.
Please keep us informed with anything you continue to find out! Thanks!
