I just went to the Kia website to update my case with the pictures in my previous post, and was met with this.

WTF Kia? Why are you doing your best to get me to hate you?

EDIT: I immediately called their Stinger customer line back, not the one in the screenshot. Spoke to a Michael this time, he seemed more pleasant to speak with. I guess they read the note I left in the case, that I had taken it to a dealership at the beginning of the year and didn't receive help (or knowledge of the customer line or creating a case), as evidence that the case was closed so they closed it. Pretty flimsy excuse, but he apologized and reopened it for me, then took the information for which dealer I was bringing it to this time.
I was dealing with Michael, too before apparently moving to Kia escalation support. Very pleasant. Hopefully they're all catching on that this is actually a problem.

FWIW today a guy in Australia posted said kia is stripping and repainting his entire care for free.
Search on forum it's on one of many paint ouch chip threads
He got 20k$ worth work covered under warranty. May be worth bringing this to local kia dealers attention and also when talking to kia consumer affairs.
He also said they withdrew yellow and maybe blue cars because of this bad paint adhesion problem. Use his example as leverage when calling kia. If enough people complain kia will need to fix. Maybe someone else can post link to the post I'm referring to as I'm leaving for a road trip now. Gdluk

@gilthanis1 I take offense to that last post! I told you it is my professional opinion that you drove the Stinger too fast! :)

My question is has this been corrected yet by KIA? We should compile build dates/issues and see where this shakes out. It would be nice for KIA to issue some sort of general statement.

If Kia had corrected this, they would be contacting people proactively. Has anyone had a silky silver have this issue?

I only found out about that 1 person getting strip/repaint for free this morning.
It does make sense I know people have been complaining about how quickly rock chips have been forming.
My guess is that since its cosmetic and not safety related, kia will not do a tsb and only do it on a case by case basis if the owner complains enough. Doubt they would proactively reach out to stinger owners and repair them all considering its 20k$ worth of work per car. Who knows.

Hard to say. If they are trying to rebrand themselves, and have a known issue with certain colors, it may be worth the effort to at least contact those owners for an inspection. How else would they find out how bad the problem really is? Not suggesting they need to spend $20k to respray every car, since most likely every car doesn’t need it. I hope.

I agree, I think it's going to be a "soft recall" for those who inquire.

Dammit..... Why'd they give us 186+ mph tires and only 80+ mph paint.....

Conspiracy theory on the limited top speed as related to the paint failing! You heard it here 1st!

We just got hit with a stop sale on our Micro Blue GT2. No explanation as of now.

Shit...I have a Micro Blue. Well, still waiting to hear from Kia Escalation service about my paint analysis results.

I should have an answer from Kia this week about all of the info that was sent in this past Monday. I will post any info I receive

Stop sale might not even be about the paint. Could be total coincidence. We shall see.

Why only blue then, if not about the paint?
Our rep just told us to pull that particular vehicle. Could be anything. This year for VW 900 Tiguans got out with a faulty nut that required retorqued. A stop sale was issued. We had zero cars on the lot but had sold two. Build dates matter. You'd be surprised at number of changes that happen during a mass production. Anything is possible.

I see. I thought it was because it was blue :)

Yes, please do keep us posted. Perhaps it's own thread when you get details.
