Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

Apparently it's a bug and they do not have a fix for it. I was told to wait for the next update and hopefully it will be fixed.
I can't recall an update yet where something that previously worked wasn't temporarily broken. It's just a roulette wheel as to what it will be. This is the result of poor UI design, poor attention to details and poor pre-release testing.

One of the many reasons we demanded that customers should not have to pay for these updates (as was the case in some jurisdictions).

Interesting observation when using the updated navigation. Voice stops around half a mile BEFORE you reach your destination, saying "you have arrived around your destination. Voice navigation will now stop". The remaining directions are visual only. Is this by design and can it be adjusted to have voice take you all the ay to your destination? Not a biggie but at times I could use voice all the way.....

Anyone know how to get this screen on the main display? I saw it in another group that I don't belong to so can't post my question there.
2019 GT1 with the latest update.
TIA.

The climate MODE is now illustrated with the graphics of "air" coming from one location or another (as can be seen in pic above). Incredibly poor graphic design to not distinguish with a colour (perhaps red for heat and blue for cold...just a thought), but the mode is barely indicated as you cycle through them.

I love that KIA said wait for the next update as if that somehow would solve the issue that you cannot tell what climate mode you were using in the meantime. The right answer was: we're releasing a fix ASAP that you can load--sorry for the inconvenience of having to update it twice. Or, it actually already works...we just designed it poorly and it is not clear as it should be--that will be fixed in the next update. Revert to the prior version is not a viable option, unfortunately, in these situations.

So is this confirmed and everyone should skip the recently released April 2021 Update?
They want the dealership to take a look I'm bringing it in in a couple weeks. I suspect they will reset to factory and then reapply the update.

I recall seeing an option in the settings to make it go quiet or not.

I have just used the new navigation update offered to KIA owners MY 2018 stinger had no updates since new due to expense. After receiving E-Mail i proceeded to follow instructions how to update to current status took approx. 1.5 hrs using the radio and new sd card only 32gb would be recognize the update was installed from sd card went for a drive while being installed when it was done tested navigation nice changes to radio were welcomed No problems after installation hope this helps other Stinger owners....

You did see my comments above, right? There is nothing wrong--it's behaving as designed. I'd love better cartography on the maps, like, e.g., Subaru uses, but it ain't going to happen.

Also, since the climate mode and temps are displayed on the Map screen when you make an adjustment, does it really matter that KIA chose such a poor graphic design for the Climate screen. I can't imagine any scenario where I would ever need to use the Climate screen myself. My lack of familiarity with it caused me to initially reply in confusion above. I thought it was some completely new thing added to the UI.

I'm not exaggerating when I say the screen has been rendered useless. If yours is still functional we are not experiencing the same thing. This cannot be by design..

Do you not get the climate info popping-up at the top of the nav screen whenever you adjust anything? If so, the "Climate" screen is redundant anyway.

On the "Climate" screen, do you not see the incredibly vague and poorly designed air flow streams change position and size when you make an adjustment (e.g., from the lowest speed to the highest speed of the fan or from defrost to some other mode)?

I just updated my 2020 Stinger today and actually like the new look. I haven't come across anything that I don't like other than having to redo my Sirius station favorites, but I really haven't had much time to play with the update.

I did have one small issue where the first update (1/4) ran to the end and then displayed "Update failed. Restart required". The system restarted and ran first update again and this time it moved onto the second update process.

I updated my 2019 Stinger to the newest map update a month or so ago and have no issues with anything working as its intended. My only beef is that there seems to be a lot of addresses that can't be found by the nav system and I end up using Waze or Google Maps on my phone. When I had three different Honda's before my Stinger, I never had an address that wasn't found. That seems to be my biggest gripe with Kia's nav system.

It's woefully inadequate relative to Google/Waze or most other systems. The base map (HERE) relies on the goodwill of users to update the majority of the myriad details...and that just doesn't happen. But, I bet it's a lot cheaper for KIA to license...

New download/updates posted today.
Kia Nav Updates Notification page.
Looks like it's the audio version update for those without navigation.

Any idea how long the system takes to do the actual update? I have the update for my 22 GT1 loaded onto a USB drive, but want to make sure i leave enough of a time window when I'm out driving around to do the update.

It took about 25 minutes for me.

Used the Navigation Updater program/app to download and create SD card. Slow (very), but worked well and 32 Gb Class 10 SD FAT32 card was created. Removed the previous version SD card, plugged in the newly created SD card and started my Stinger. Setup-> All menus-> Setup and as I remember the new SD card took over and didn't have to go to update. Took a while for the 1st 2 pass install part and then a while for the next 2 passes and then a while for the last restarts, but all went smoothly, no problems or glitches. First thing noticed was the "Display Off" has moved from the right side to the left so it is easier for driver to press. Colors changed to kinda purple for the graphics but every thing worked. Think there is now an option for Bluetooth Media direct from your phone, don't think I saw it before.

Great update, went smoothly.

^^Did you use an actual sd card reader/sd card, or you mean flash drive? I initially tried with the former but the update failed. Recreate the same using an actual flash drive which it took successfully.

Setup-> All menus-> Setup and as I remember the new SD card took over and didn't have to go to update.

What does the part in bold mean?

I believe the 22 models update over USB flash drive. The previous models uses a 32gig sd card . And on ours once you put a SD card with the update files on it the system recognizes it and asks if you want to start the update so I never actually have had to go into setup and manually find update as it asks automatically.
