This is the Massachusetts law..

The measure will require cars sold in Massachusetts starting with the model year 2022 to equip any cars having telematics systems with a standardized open access data platform. Independent repair shops and mechanics would, with owner permission, automatically have access to the vehicle's data to use it for diagnostics and car repair.

Rather than conform to an open access system, some car manufacturers like Kia/Hyundai decided to disable it.

So what happens if you buy a car out of state, like CT, but keep it in MA? Anyone know?

i just did the latest update too...fine, but WHY did they remove favorites? meaning, used to be 40...now only 24! augh.

also, anyone know about the whole uvo services working in ma if you buy out of state?

On the "Latest Map Update" can anyone tell me if they have brought back the KMs to MILES feature or does it still just convert the distance of Miles to KM'S while driving in the USA . Hopefully they rolled this back like t it used to be as it would nice to track MPG while driving in the USA along with seeing the speed in MPH and not KMS like it shows now. Thanks

What happened with the last update is a soon as we cross the USA border the speed matches whatever the Speed Limit signs say in KM's and not MPH. Example - Speed limit is 70 MPH so the speedometer will show 112 KM'S. You can also not change to Miles per Gallon as it stays a Liters per Kilometers. I could change it just fine to MPH and Miles per Gallon before this last map update. There is no option at all to change it manually to MPH as it switches automatically. When we cross the border and come back to Canada it switches back to kms and matches the signs that are kms.

UPDATE: Installed the latest map update and not only is that ugly purple screen gone now but the option to change from KMS to MPH is back as well so thanks all

The update takes about an hour. Doing the update on accessory made, you will constantly get warnings of low battery.

Also I recommend to make sure your engine is running prior to starting the update. Starting the update, then starting the engine could cause the update to get corrupted. Happened to me the first time I attempted the update.

I did my update with the engine in the on position (but not running), battery tender connected to terminals under hood. Took about 20-30 min (MY 22).

Does it prompt you when to remove USB?

It did when it was done. The 22 updates internal flash via usb flash drive. The 21 and older models used a sd card, so the process is a bit different.

Accessory mode worked fine for me.

I start the map update and then drive to where I need to go. They have all worked fine so far.
