...those NZ badging names work for me. Well done Kia NZ.
It's all about marketing and selling cars. So you get a "GT-Line" which has all the show but without the full go. Good selling point. I do like that "GT-Sport" name/badge they applied to the top V6 model, had not seen that one before.
It really is surprising hey how misinformed or cagey they can be. It is not in their best interest to sell you something coming later, I suppose.Visited my kia dealer a today to see if there was any knew news. Still has no information on arrival dates for test drive or ordered cars. He believes the pipes are already priced in at the $59990 pricing as he can't find any information about options and still can't tell me if my blue paint job will cost me more. While I was there the dealer ship boss came over to show me the new GT sorento as it has similar colour seats as I have ordered. He was quite shocked when I asked him if the updated model would be in Australia by October. He stated that there was no new model and he had just picked up this car in Melbourne 2 days ago.He also told me that when he was picking up the car in Melbourne he met the Kia Australia boss who told him this was the 2018 model. I then got out my IPad went to Korean kia web site and showed me the 2018 updated model. The look on his face was priceless. It does worrying me that these guys who are selling these cars have no F#####g idea what's going on in the real world. If I brought this car and then found out that the updated model was only a couple of months away I would be really pissed off.

That site loaded very poorly for me. Here's the direct YouTube link, assuming the video was why you posted.
They're not trying to mislead anyone. Who buys a car solely based on the arbitrary letters in the badge? lol...If that person exists, they deserve to be misled.I'm all for people modifying their cars to suite their personality, but when they're just sticking something on to try to lie to people that they bought something more powerful or expensive than what they actually bought... well I guess that does say a lot about their personality. I'm certainly no stranger to seeing C5 Corvette's that people glued fake rear brake vents on to try to convince people they have a Z06, and it just seems sad. The only thing weird here is that Kia is doing it from the factory, and only in one specific market? You make a good point that it's good marketing to upsell the EX people to a GT Line because it says GT so you get that hint of top end badging, but alternately would they lose sales from otherwise GT sport buyers just getting a GT line if they didn't care that much about performance? I'm in USA so I'm used to a lot of people who choose BMW and Mercedes models solely on the model number (higher is better!) and don't actually know or care how much power it has or even what RWD is.
The comparisons seem to be just horsepower-per-euro, without factoring-in actual performance, and also keeping vague on options/equipment. From the last paragraph (translated):Another interesting article:
Another viewpoint?
