Do It Yourself Kia Stinger Oil Change

The Fumoto F106SX fits perfect. No extension or adapters needed. It ends up angled down slightly, but I still use the optional snap-on drain hose. Plenty of room for the belly pan too.

Thank you for posting this. Fumoto valves are great, glad to know this so I can install at the first oil change I do.

Yeah, unfortunate the "EZ Drain Valve" guys ripped off the fumoto design and priced theirs a couple bucks cheaper. They even copy the part numbers.

Here's a comparo of the Kia and the Wix filters for the 3.3l. The Wix is actually for the G80. I haven't tried to install it yet so can't 100% confirm it's correct, but it should be.....

Kai (Mahle):
Fiber endcaps, plastic internal support.
The openings in the endcaps are smaller than the connectors and it's the deformation that makes the seal. Hence why they're so difficult to install.

Wix:
Plastic endcaps with (small) rubber lip seals, plastic internal support.
Looks like the Wix has more filter media

Both kits include the housing o-ring and plug gasket.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but make sure to use the proper torque on the filter housing. They are extremely easy to crack.

To be honest, I am pretty disappointed the engineers "pointed" the drain hole right at a cross bar...WTF. A few more degrees down and it would drain without issue and mess. Will def need to craft something to place there and direct the oil flow as it drains. Perhaps a PVC "channel" or something.

Just infuriating to me to see that oil just splash everywhere. And don't even get me started on the location of that filter. Looks almost impossible to change with making a royal mess. Just foolish.

This alone may be reason enough to have e dealer do it and then make them steam clean the entire area after making a mess.

Just did my first oil change on my 2019 gt2 AWD..i read a lot of comments on the crossmember being to close to the oil drain plug. Mine looks like its farther back than others ive seen..i had no problem with oil hitting that crossmember..its about 5 to 6 inches away.. im wondering if they changed it on the 2019..or the crossmember is set farther back on the AWD...is that possible?.

I just did my first oil change tonight. My 2018 GT also had plenty of room though mine was a late 18 build so perhaps it was changed mid year or be drivetrain specific...mine's AWD too

I ended up installing a fumoto valve and it's pointing to the side so perhaps there was a clearance issue at one time but there's plenty of room to discharge rear.

Yes...im thinking its probably more of an issue with the 2wd cars. I would be pretty impressed if they changed that design that fast! Mine is a 2019 with a july 2018 manufacture date.

Thanks!!

Just did my 1st oil change at 2k miles.
There was plenty of room in front of the crossmember on my AWD GT1.
Changing my own oil gives me a chance to look under the car and clean stuff up.

Oil came out dark with no evidence of "metalflake" in the oil and the filter looked clear, assuming of course that the debris would be caught on the outside of the filter. I did not look inside.

I've had other cars that displayed more shiny metal in the oil on the 1st changes. This oil looked just fine. Took 7 qts.

The cartridge filter was a bit messy and a bit of a PITA to change compared to a spin on. OTOH, you can inspect the media for garbage you wont see in a spin on.

It seems that there is more room behind the oil drain plug for AWD than for RWD.

I put together this illustrated oil change instructions for a 2018 RWD Stinger GT. If you want me to post more instructions for other maintenance items, give this a thumbs up.

This is a nice guide. Have you considered adding the torque specs to it for the drain plug and filter?

Thanks. The torque specs are in the text instructions for reinstalling the plug and filter cap near the end of the doc. I take your suggestion to mean they should be on page 1. I agree with you.

On the 3.3T engine the oil cartridge cap is 26 ft/lb. and the oil drain plug is 32.5 ft./lb.

Thanks. I obviously missed them on my first read.

Thanks, I know what they are but just didn’t see them in the guide.
