3.3TT DIY intakes w/Heat shielding drop about 0.2sec off 0-60

Guys just came from home depot and bought some hardware to make the bracket and the sound is amazing OMG....

I will be trying to create some type of heat shield with aluminum or somemthing looking at stuff...

How about some kind of thin particle board? Probably will be hell to try to mold it to fit though.

Look in the insulation area of Home Depot. Probably got all kinds of cool products to play with there.

yeah i am going to home depot honestly and they sell think sheets of aluminum which are very easy molded and i have the oem box mounting points already....also will be looking like you said some type of cardboard material and then wrap on the reflective insulation....I will play with it but to be honest i drove for a while and the filter was not hot or the pipe and my filter is placed right in front of the duct...so i assume as i drive the cold air get pushed right into it ....

Started some card board prototypes i will be going to home depot to see what material i find that i can use...will be buying some aluminum sheets and see if i can mold them to the prototype card board i made....wish me luck lol

Guys the reason i am doing this to help everyone save money.....business are out there to make money is up us to innovate and help each other as fellow stinger owners....I mean look at a great example KN $420 and it wont be as pretty but similar results....Tork Motorsports has a kit for 200 but seriously its just a cheap filter and a little elbow with a bracket ....you can do this for under 100 dollars and save tons of money guys.... if i come up with shielding i will post all the details....

Good luck! Curious to see what you come up with!

HEY SAL NEEDS HELP TO FIND A SPOT FOR THE FIRST STINGER MEETING WE CAN USE YOUR HELP ON LOCATIONS ANY IDEAS GO TO THE STINGER FEST THREAD AND POST YOUR IDEAS MAN

All caps is considered shouting.. :D

On the shields, starting with cardboard to get the shape is the way to go. The guys at Bad Obsession call it CAD - cardboard aided design..

I have a laser and plan on coming up with a template that can then be used to make copies of a shield, and use aluminum duct tape (not the common duck tape) to secure and attach the pieces. Possibly from acrylic - need to see heat tolerance - but one idea I have it to use mirrored acrylic - if you don't know, it looks just like a traditional mirror. Comes in regular, but also tinted (i.e. red, blue, etc.) versions..

Does filter come with clamp to attach to the elbow?

I wonder how much clearance the shield needs... Could I make a feeder cone for the air from the cold air inlet without causing a restriction and dulling the sound

AS PROMISED FELLOW STINGER OWNERS....
SORRY GUYS THERE IS 4 PARTS TO THE VIDEO I WAS RECORDING MYSELF SORRY FOR THE BAD QUALITY
Hey just a quick fyi I been doing a little research and if those elbows are abs plastic like auto zone says be careful because the plastic supposedly can soften up over time especially with the extra heat from the turbos and with boost can make the pipe collapse or damage and if a piece of it comes flying into your intake game over so I'm going to spring for the metal ones for a extra 19 bucks just to be on the safe side.
