I think it might be quite different if you were at, say, the drag strip or in heavy traffic. Worth keeping an eye on, at least..
I yeah i agree i been keeping an eye out ever since i installed and drive anywhere .....i personally dont think it will be an issue but hey to each own if you wan the aluminum there it will be heavier and you will need to make some type of bracket as well....keep that in mind...I think it might be quite different if you were at, say, the drag strip or in heavy traffic. Honestly there is difference bro.....it all depends on your dealers....it has nothing to do with a legit company or not if the dealer is picky as shit they will give you shit regardless man ....dude all you have to do is put the oem box back on it take like 15 minutes if you are going for service....my dealers does not care about intakesAny warranty issues with DIY over say the typhoon since that says it won’t effect warranty.
That’s true .... it’s a few minute job ...Yeah, like Angel said, if you’re worried about the dealer just pop the OEM boxes on. It actually surprised me how easy it was to take them out.
So I was looking for a cheap and simple open element solution, I'm all about the sound, and when I saw the Spectre Solution, I decided to try it, for just $90, why the hell not. I went with red instead, mounted them a bit higher to keep them sturdy, pressed up against the intake tubes. I still need to tweak the passenger side one, it's still a bit wobbly for my taste, but it looks nice and sounds much better.
I'm thinking if we just fabricate a single "wall" hanging from the strut support cross members, we can block most of the engine heat. I'm thinking corrugated plastic with reflective heat shielding on the engine side would be an easy material to work with and have the right stiffness. Just have to cut it out to match the countours of the engine bay. Once one of us gets a good fit, we can share the pattern. I'll kick it around.

Great job and love that Spectre has filters that match some of our cars. Red on Red looks awesome and you’re insulation idea sounds similar to mine. If you can get something cut to fit perfectly that would be better, otherwise wrapping the heat shielding over the strut bar works great. Let us know what you come up with and glad to have another DIY’er joining the fun!So I was looking for a cheap and simple open element solution, I'm all about the sound, and when I saw the Spectre Solution, I decided to try it, for just $90, why the hell not.
