• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Kia Stinger - Australia discussions (pre-release)

This is Kia's first attempt in providing a sports sedan that's competitive with the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 4 Series. It's hard to assign a value on brand cache, but the company isn't in the position yet to charge a premium for the Stinger relative to the German competition. Enthusiasts like us can see behind the badge - but for Kia to change public perception that its cars are fun for hamsters, it will need more than a handful of people to buy and extoll the virtues of this car.

It will certainly be a balance for Kia to straddle a price point that's reflective of the segment it's trying to play in while not taking huge losses, but a $45k - $47k fully loaded GT w. AWD I think is fair and will get the Stinger more traction in the market. I distinctly remember wanting a Chevy SS (US version Holden Commodore) for years, which by all accounts was a phenomenal car - but for the money they wanted, I could always justify going with another upmarket brand with better fit/finish and greater cache. I don't think Kia can afford to make the same mistake.

Seems Canada's pricing is good. Which is interesting because the Australian and Canadian dollar is almost equal. I guess it may be a bigger market and very close to the US may factor in. Nothing new I suppose ... Australia seems to always be paying more dollars for imported cars. I'm eager to see these things on the roads soon though.

Got a phone call from my dealer today who told me that my stinger had left Korea on the boat to Melbourne. He said it should be in Melbourne in about 2 weeks. He still had no info on actual price of the car or the bimodal exhaust or what accessory are available. Still can't believe they can't give me a price yet.

In NZ they can't even confirm what many cars are coming, what colour or anything. Dealer launch is on 15 Oct. same boat as Aussie cars. Not dealers will have a demo or 2 and there will be a few cars for customer pre orders but the dealers don't yet know what is coming. Other than that proper supply won't start till January. Even the dealers are extremely frustrated with Kia as there is no communication and no one seems to know what is going on......

Forgot to say that the dealer also said there are no demo models coming to Tassie. So I hope they don't think they are going to use mine as one.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yes,yes we have discussed this, but cane ne 1 tell me that the pricing Kia has set for the Stinger GT is $59990 and what do you expect with on road costs and so on.

I had an interesting chat with my Kia dealer manager.....

Not happy Jan..!!+

Without the options and paint $$$$$

Either I am bit stupid to think or jump the gun, but having a business and talking pricing leads me to think that maybe Kia has shot themselves in regards to their marketing strategy and pricing... here iN OZ.

TOTAL DRIVEAWAY PRICE CLOSE TO and MAYBE JUST OVER $70K

On another note.
MEDIA RELEASE date 19th september
Staff training on the 18th october!!!! Anyone wishing to see the cars on track....Eastern Creek.

So wait anothe Month and will decide when pricing confirmed when the cars are in showroom. As for the pricing, well Kia may come back with a discounted price...No way was told by the manager at my Kia. KIA AUSTRALIA is not going to look at the pricing, it has been set!

Ohhh the pricing is ex gst... so plus on road costs and paint options ...close or above $70k.... for a kia...maybe bmw m140..

Not sure where you are getting 70k? My pre-sale contract offer was "on the road" in Qld for $65k, this was sent to me after their recent $59990 (inc GST) price reveal for the GT. I declined at this final price offer.

Also funny you mention the BMW M140 is on sale for ~$64k driveway too. It's a performance weapon and the last of the series 1 in RWD. You would not got too far wrong with this purchase. Absolutely compelling buying, but totally different vehicle size class for direct comparison to the Stinger. Price wise though it compares. I actually recently bought myself the baby BMW, but in 125i M sport (manual) version ... it's quick, not fast, but will certainly tide me over for a good while.

I still love this Kia Stinger (GT), hope to have one, one-day... so we'll see what the future brings.
For those who end up getting a Kia Stinger soon. Awesome. Enjoy... and I hope to be with you soon.

Yes, Mine was around the same mark.
But I was told that the Price $59990 is ex GST by my dealer.
This throws everything out the window!

As for the BMW M140 ia an advertised price*

but can get this cheaper. Just a bit concerned for after warranty period.....on these German cars..

As for the KIA STINGER yes ,it is in a different class but for that price.... maybe wait for 6 months or so.

All good Sting. Sounds like your dealer is a knob mate, go elsewhere. All announced pricing for Australian vehicles must include GST. "On-road price" ... well that is another story!
The BMW warranty will never be as good as the Kia/Hyundai offer, but you can purchase an extended one for piece of mind. If that's your worry.

Since there is still no brochure to speak of this is my attempt at joining the dots on the full GT specs list

Just on the car advice Facebook page and it looks like Australian gt's will get the flat bottom steering wheel as well which is awesome!

Yes Nujee it's only on the gt, but it looks like it won't be heated as it's
missing the button.
Also no cup holder cover.

That is an odd omission. Lets see. I maybe thats the gt line 2.0 ltr? Either way Media embargo is up today so I would imagine that by 9 or 10am Caradvice will have all the Australian Specs up.

I wonder what the DA price of the 2.0 GTline will be.... if it goes beyond 50k, not sure they will get many takers given the base 3.3 is around that price.

Well this is disappointment.......was expecting some more Stinger news today. Not sure when we will get the rest of the specs and details given the media launch is done.

@Nujee Rang my dealer in Caroline Springs today, asked where mines at, Dean (awesome guy) informed me with the media launch in Canberra tomorrow, us early adopters (if we stay put and price isnt stupid expensive), we should be hearing from them end of this week early next.

Asked also about bimodal and other stuff already pre-fitted, heard it may be still an aftermarket option and not standard fitting, the Kia internal team need to let us guys/girls know its killing us, hurry up Kia! :)

Only weeks to go until someone has one in their hands.
