• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Kia Stinger - Australia discussions (pre-release)

Yep, I consider us the first crop of 'Stinger Die Hards' lol and we have received no love from KIA.
I even tried to get an indication for Insurance recently and they couldn't help me as they use the Red Book site for quotations. Obviously the Stinger is not listed because it's not launched/released. The insurance company said that new released cars can sometimes take up to 1 month before they show up on Red Book. Can we imagine for a second that the car is ready at the dealerships for us to pick up but we can't get a cover note from insurance companies? It should have been launched long ago.

I'm really appreciative of all of you who have posted your drive away prices as it gives me an indication of where we should be.

With all the correspondence I've had with my dealer to date I still haven't received a final price yet.
He has said back in August after the RRP was announced that Kia Australia may offer a 'launch offer' or a 'Drive away offer' so he'll wait till they receive their internal pricing lists, invoice costs and dealer incentives as to not prematurely lead me astray. The only price indication he gave me is too high to mention as he thought back then that the GST may be on top of the RRP. He still hasn't confirmed either way but all the pricing you guys have received at the very least shows that the RRP is inclusive of GST and at the very most the Drive Away price should be around the $65-66k without any additional incentives or offers, well at least for the early birds.
As the media embargo ends at midnight tonight I'm hoping to hear from him tomorrow and get some info set in stone.
I consider myself a patient man but after waiting 9 months and being so close to release my patience is slowly withering.
I was told the same thing from my dealer about incentives . But was told it should be around $65,000

New Vid, Nothing new except he says the 2.0ltr starts at $45,990!
I expected it to start at around $40k.
For that price wouldn't you just get the V6 for an extra $3K?

Ha, I was told $56,990 back in May which has become $65,990 with taxes and on-roads. Was seriously pi$$ed off till I found out I was still $3k under rrp. I wish you luck bargaining the price down - i understand theres a queue of people prepared to take your place in the queue!!;)
haha true i dont suspect much of a drop. my plan was to get the exhaust included for 65k max.
anyway we will see how it goes.
for now just cant wait to see one in the flesh and test drive

That's going to be amusing in 2 weeks time....

Me: "I'd like to get a cover note for my Stinger"
Insurance Company: "......your what????"
Me: "Its a Kia"
Insurer: "Ok, and how much would you like to insure your Kia for?"
Me: "$68,000 dollars please"
Insurer: .....click.....
Me: "Hello....hello?

Hint let me know where you saw it, for future buyers !!!

all excited and can't wait guys. Watch this space for various pics.....if I get one on time for my Birthday!

Well Insurance...hmmm same here rang a few and no one heard of it.

I am sure after the Media launch and by end of SEPT they'll know.
Just think, who in the right mind is going to drive the car out of the showroom BRAND NEW and without FULL COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE! and only with CTP (Third Party)!
I for one will not...
MAybe will call Kia tomorrow and mention this.. Could be an after thought from KIA AUSTRALIA. After all they took time to release the price and still no OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE.
So maybe they forgot to let the INSURERS KNOW!

Heaven forbid we have to rely on Kia to inform them.....will be months. They're supposedly releasing the cars in the first 2 weeks of Oct but not training the dealers till the 19th????

yeah, 19th.. wonder if the car will be released by then or not!

Seriously, according to MOTORING when tested in WAKEFIED! the fuel Consumption!!!!!

Fuel: 8.8L/100km (ADR Combined) 4 pot
Fuel: 10.2L/100km (ADR Combined) V6

Amazing!

Well this thread will be coming to an end soon...as we'll no longer need to be talking pre-release anymore.

Oct 1 looms as Australia official sale date.

Price line up is official;

2017 Kia Stinger pricing* (excluding on roads)

200S (a) $45,990
200Si (a) $52,990
GT-Line (a) $55,990
V6 330S (a) $48,990
V6 330Si (a) $55,990
V6 GT (a) $59,990

I still firmly believe it is $3-4k overpriced. However I still want one badly. As suggested by Kia au "supply starts to free up after about 12 months" then these prices should closely represent the driveway prices. I'll see you some after Mr Kia.

Thank-you everyone for your contributions here in this thread. Great work ... and I now hope to see many new threads opening by actual owners of brand spanking new stingers.

All the best you Stinger enthusiasts.

Agreed 100%. Not a bad effort but a touch too exy for my liking. Oh well. Still a nice car and I might take one for a spin at some point next year.
I actually think it is an absolute superb effort and I have not even seen or driven it (who here has?) ... but which ever way I keep looking at it (and I am all the time god damn it!) ... that orig $40-50k is so far from the now realised $46-$60k range, that I'll afford it the time and the hype and supply limited sales before I'm ready jump in.

Its not stupidly overpriced, but just a bit IMO. Either way.....is still a heck of a lot of car for the money and anyone who buys it will be getting a great car at what is not a bad price. I still think the exhaust needed to be included at this price point but.

My dealers advised he is in Melbourne this weekend for product training.

Explains why the cars so expensive...flying them all to melbourne to train them to sell a car that's selling itself. Maybe they should just read all the forums.....

Update my dealer tells me of the GT's he's ordered to date over 50% are in Red, followed by white then an even share for the other colours. ps. Still crying over the $$. pss .Also I believe orders taken today wont be delivered until next year, Feb/March.

Heard pretty much the same delays....I'm also hurting over the price but it's becoming a dull ache. Delivery of the car will make it all go away.
