JB4 Map 3 log check

Here’s a map 1 pull 1-3 gear after the ECU reset. The highest value I see is 4.5 when I initially start flooring the pedal. After that the highest is goes is 0.8
@AWDGT2 , @ChaneRZ , and others are doing some PREACHIN!!!!!!!

MY MAN (or WOMAN for our female Stingettes.....- no lack of love here ), if this knowledge does not help get you back on the right track, then leave well enough alone......again, not trying to rain on the parade but I have not seen the level of assistance that I see on this forum anywhere else. The darn thing about it is that I no longer have a Stinger!!!!!!!!!!! (getting kinda jealous - but I'm happy where I'm at:thumbup:).

I would just add to run out that tank of fuel and leave things on map 0 until you can get some fresh juice. Then start a fresh set of logs beginning at map 1. Post and then go from there.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea. I going to play it safe for now and wait until I can get some new logs to start fresh. I’m thinking of just pumping 91 and using VP Racing Fuels Madditive Octanium Unleaded Octane Booster 32oz from autozone. It claims to raise octane by 7 points treats 10 gallons. So I’m guessing since my g80 sport holds 20 gallons it should raise the octane by 3.5?

Are you able to get "Boostane" at your locale? That may be ok and the 3.5 will be more like it but Boostane has a proven track record.

Unfortunately there are no local auto part stores that offer boostane. Maybe I’ll order a bottle on Amazon if the autozone one doesn’t work. Hopefully it does that way I can just go to autozone rather than to keep ordering boostane online lol

The Big "A" may be your source. Can't speak for the other stuff you mentioned but I have used the Royal Purple brand and It did the trick but I can get 93 any place I look..... I still lay my chips on Boostane. I only went to map 3 on occasion but I can get 93 all day long here in the "woods" of KY.....LOL

The corn stuff can be found easily as well.

Ethanol is addicting. It burns cleaner too. Don’t want to rely on octane boosters. It coats your plugs and exhaust.

If you go far enough into the "hollers" around here, you can come out with a 55gal drum of the "corn stuff" for about $100 bucks....and it's good for "sippin" as well.........:D

What octane would be the most efficient at map 2/ map 3?

93 is the minimum for best results up to map 2. 3 and above, more octane is needed to due to the additional boost creating higher cylinder temps/pressure. At high speeds, there is not a lot of time to completely burn lower octane levels during the combustion stroke thus, increasing the likelihood of detonation which is VERY, VERY bad for an engine....

Some have had minor success on map 3 with only 93 octane but I would not recommend running that map for very long even if you had access to 93.....in any case, logs are you best friend.

I know right?! I’m tempted to hoard E85 but don’t want to risk our garage lol. I did buy a couple of gas cans so I can fill up whenever.

I did a quick map 2 pull this morning and it’s looking good.

Travis and or Darrin, I’m picking up some
Knowledge here too. So, if timing is being pulled, that’s to protect against knock, correct? Terry reviewed a recent log of mine, So did Darrin, and Terry said “focus on Trims and knock count, and both seem
Pretty low, so things appear to be running well. “. I assume because I had little to no timing being pulled, that’s why he said knock count is low? Or is there another parameter in the log to see that?
That's exactly what he was talking about :) The more the "knock" sensor detects that potentially fatal knock during each single rotation, the more it has to pull. Everything is based on "timing" so the reference to "count" is synonymous.

Yes, that is looking good. Timing is much improved!
I’m guessing since the timing improved a lot and the IAT is very low perhaps the engine runs too hot in the afternoon when the IAT reaches 120+ So perhaps an intercooler and WMI would be needed. I would have to do a couple pulls in the afternoon once the outside temperature has gone up. 90+ here in cali today lol

Looks good to me. .8 across the board for 2-6 cylinders is fine. Cylinder 1 is measured differently. As long as the 2-6 cylinders are all aligned with low numbers that is a good sign.

So did the ECU reset do the trick or did you change anything else?

Your IATs are really low at 77 degrees F for this time of year. Mine were 107 while driving this morning but 143 while I stopped and today is the coolest day we have had in a long time. What area are you in?

Yea I reset the ECU and that seemed to fix everything. I live in Orange County and wake up at 4am to work so temperature outside was cool. Afternoon supposed to be 90+ today so I’ll do a couple logs to see if outside temperature will affect readings. I’m hoping resetting the ECU did the job.

@Travis Wills , do you really reset the ecu after every fill up? That’s interesting…
Yea, I have done that for the last few months. Just takes a few minutes. I have been satisfied with my logs since I started doing that so I thought "Why stop now"?

Close and lock all of the doors. Disconnect the battery for 10 to 15 minutes with the key away from the vehicle. Reconnect the battery and drive around a bit before doing any pulls.
So after you close and lock the doors how do you get to the battery? Did you leave the hatch open. Sorry bear with me pls.

Yes. I opened the hatch then locked and closed all the door then disconnected the battery. There should be a keyhole right next to the license plate lights to open the trunk manually with the physical key inside your keyfob.

Actually after doing some research I believe the stinger doesn’t have a lock cylinder next to the license plate lights. I guess after locking and closing the doors leave the trunk open until the 10-15 minutes are you then reconnect.
