Intake Comparison

Agreed, my JT filters are huge.
Yes. Definitely best in class.
I am considering an upgrade to the JT CAI around next year, but I have other plans first.

Ah sorry i misunderstood universal as the drop ins. Ok ty
No worry ! ;)
By the way, you mentionned the opening through the bumper and that is a good point.
In my case I removed the stock inlet assembly which is very weirdly shaped and looks inefficient in regard to air flow.
Some people replace them with aftermarket ducts such as VT big mouth.

Following the steps of @STINGER , I swapped the original filters with K&N universal filters on my Injen CAI.

Cost of the operation: $56 + shipping(15$ since I am oversea)
Expected increase in filter area : 20~50% (20% if considering only the exterior area, 50% if counting the open top)
Fit: Perfect (I wish these filters were offered in a slightly longer version because there is room for more filter)
Sound: Did a quick drive and it seemed sightly different, but I need more driving to give an opinion (I wish sound remains the same because I had no absolutely no complain about the sound)
Performance: TBD but I do not expect to see a huge improvement.
Looks: My Injen piping is black, so red looks nice with the rest of the engine bay. Can't say for a red/red combo.

Are those the K&N you clean yourself with the oil kit?

Not so large. Look at the JT CAI.
Yes, but I think the question is how large is large enough - how much throughput can the turbos do at max flow? After a certain point you're just gaining filter area, but not increasing flow.

Maybe! but it will depend on what power level we are looking at, considering future upgrades.

AEM intake with larger aFe filters, motherf*ckers!

Was a tight fit, especially in the driver's side, but these filters have a good amount more surface area.

Are the sounds any different? They both look really good btw. Someone need to make a connector to the snorkel.

Curious to know if this makes any difference

Which K&N Filters are these? Im looking at doing a larger AEM as I can get them in black to make it look more stock lol.

So I am looking to possibly snag a CAI through K8stingerstore if there are any juicy sales. I was looking for which intake has a really great sound and looks good in the engine bay. I'm honestly not that crazy about getting the intake with the most performance gains. It's nice to have but I am looking for the sound and the visual aspect mostly. Does anyone have any opinions on which of these intakes could manage this? Is there much of a difference in sound between the different aftermarket intakes? Any answers are appreciated! Everyone have a good thanksgiving!

They all sound pretty much the same and it kinda depends on the look you are going for. I wanted the Injen intakes because they looked cool with the curved pipe and red option but I went with AEM for about $100 cheaper and I'm just as happy with the engine bay look and sound and performance is freaking spot on, couldn't be happier.

The key is getting as much cold air as possible while introducing the least amount of possible restriction. BMS intake provides the best of both worlds in an inexpensive and easy to install/remove package.
I have the BMS and I love them!

What dimensions did you go with for your aFe filter? I have the K&N intake, which looks almost identical to the AEM, and would like to get a bigger filter like yours.

aFe part number: 21-91054

If you punch that P/N in then you'll be able to see all the exact dimensions.
