3.3TT Kia Stinger 3.3TT SSR Downpipes +30WHP / +26WTQ NO TUNE!!!!! Dyno Runs and Testing

pretty easily, he probably cranked the car and got under it.
Usually you can hear an exhaust leak but my car must be a little too loud. Two dirty water puddles were the give away.

yeah, usually a good indicator. Getting under it while cranked and feeling around will lead you to the leak real quick.

Hope you get it figured out soon! Your setup sounds great

I really hope bad fitment isn't the case, I've been waiting for mine on back order for a little over 2 weeks now.

Obvious question but did you remember to put the seals back in when you installed the midpipes? Also, if the seals aren’t installed on center they will leak. Might just need to be loosened and realigned at the back.

I checked mine for leaks periodically and they’re tight so far.

I’ve only read of two cases now. Most of us had no issues other than getting them aligned properly so that they don’t contact anything.

SSR is sending me a new set. Their pics showed the pipe a good inch further from the tranny than mine.
A master mechanic installed mine and you can see the gaskets in the pics.
The mechanic also said these are not going to fit before he put them in due to the flange location and angles.

I finally got my SSRs on with the help of a friend with a shop/lift. I have an Ark catback and swapped out the mufflers for Flowmaster DBX. I also did some sound deadening in the trunk and partial under the seats.

First off the fit of the pipes was disappointing. The drivers side touched the transmission and could not be adjusted away so we had to dent the pipe to clear. Passenger side pipe was 1/2 inch longer than the driver side pipe and that was able to fit but barely. (the Ark mid pipe has H and X crossovers so the two sides don't move independently. The mounting tabs needed bent. The exhaust now hangs a half inch or more lower which caused the exhaust to hit my Ultimate Racing brace back towards the rear axle. This could not be adjusted and had to remove the brace. (Turns out the Ultimate brace is steel and rusting on the inside and had water in it!)

The sound was about as expected. At light loads it is just slightly louder maybe 10%, at heavy loads its probably 25% louder and maybe more at WOT. It sounds bad ass now for sure. No rattle or rasp but the sound is a bit grittier which i like. The car was fairly quiet before in attempt to fight that 1500-2000 RPM drone. So far the drone seems no worse and the car did need some more volume at WOT.

Performance! - I did 0-60 just prior to install and ran 3.89, 3.99. These were back to back. After SSR install I ran a 3.91, grabbed a burrito and then ran 3.89. No gains. The intake temps prior where 70-75 and after 90-95 from sitting. So with cooler temps and ill give it some time to adjust, but still surprised no gains off the bat. I did pick up 1 PSI of boost after.

I'm running 3.78 0-60 and 11.78 1/4 miles before the mids so probably 430-450 wheel HP with Tork Tune, JT Intake, Ultimate FMIC so maybe there are diminishing returns or some other limits around the 450 HP mark? It does sound and feel faster but that is a butt dyno illusion so dragy tells me.

I wanted to expand on my drone impressions after a few weeks of driving. At certain loads and rpms i could say there may be less drone. But other loads and rpm ranges there is more drone. Pre mid my drone was only 1500-2000. Now it expands higher up he rev range so its harder to shift or sport mode out of it. Some loads also have more vibration felt in the cabin. So all in all I'd say more drone but in certain circumstances less. Simple huh?

Do you recommend these down pipes? Where you able to notice the performance difference?

I’ve been happy with them, I’ve had them so long now I don’t know if I remember were exactly I noticed the gains.

I had not any fitment issues in my RWD Stinger.

Seems all the AWDs get very close to the trans. We dented the pipe at that spot to give more room. Mine was 1/8 away and thought heat expansion may make it touch. I've found one other person with poor alignment at the catback. They fixed with "form a gasket".
SSR has given me the option to return or replace so they do stand behind their product.
Day of install i saw no gains. I ran a dragy 3.89 before and a 3.89 directly after pipe install. (After the IATs were 20 degrees higher from sitting)
My 1\4 mile went from 11.78 to 11.66. However most of that was light wheels. The wheels dropped the 0-60 by .1.
I later got down to 11. 61 and 11.58 but the last 2 times i added some e85.
So lots of variables but appears to be no gains unless adaption time is needed. At the same time both SSR and Tork showed 25 to 30 hp gains on the dyno.
It does feel faster so if i didnt measure i would be convinced it was faster. :)

What were the issues you had?
Kia Corp Eng,
Your GT-R Nismo with the AMS Ronin package must be quite the beast!!
I had the privilege of driving a GT-R with the Switzer 800 HP package and it was amazing in it's own right.
AMS does phenomenal work. I had several of their components on my full bolt on 2010 (only 545 WHP)--top notch engineering and quality! Wish they made aftermarket components for the Stinger!!
