Who else has had warped rotors?

Glad to see I’m not the only person with this problem. I’ve warped rotors in the younger years and learned from my mistakes. I’m at 5k now and having very noticeable braking vibration. Pretty disappointing because I downshift, never sit on hot brakes, and pretty much baby the car except for a handful of fun above average speed interstate runs with light braking. Took it to dealership and they quoted me $315 not including labor for new rotors. I called Kia Consumer Affairs and they are going to try and work something out for me. I’ll follow up here with the resolution.
 
Take it into the dealership to have them repair/replace them. Buy new pads to replace the OEM set and do a proper bedding.

The dealership replaced the rotors for free after a little bit of a fight, but Kamauxxx is right. The pads must be properly bedded with the rotors. Also, the OEM pads are apparently not great and tend to leave deposits on the rotors versus the rotors warping... so while replacing the rotors fixes the problem, it will happen again unless properly bedded and/or upgraded.
 
I read thus post prior to purchasing the 2019 stinger in July. I followed the bedding procedures of driving at 70 then hard breaking to 20 and repeating 10 times. I'm surprised they did not change the pad material between the 18 and 19 models. I will push for a replacement and if they insist on repairing then I will also buy new rotors.

The OEM pads and rotors come already bedded (so I have read, here, by those who seem to know). It's only when you change either or both that you need to do the bedding in yourself. And different pads go on different Stingers depending on where they are sold. (Are you really in Kuwait?)

That would be my guess. I don't know how you find out. All you could do is ask around. Ask Kia directly. A Net search, etc.
 
Been asking for folks in different countries to list the part number for their rotors and pads so we can compare. Let’s hope folks will do it at some juncture.
 
I'll post mine when I go in to Kia sometime in the next week.

Went to Kia today. I'm going back in the morning to have the alignment checked, but today they "polished" the rotors. I asked multiple times why do they need to be polished at 6.5k km but didn't get a straight answer. I talked with the manager and of course he doesn't know either. I asked him for the serial number for the breakpads and he said he will check. He did not give it to me before I left so I'm going to remind him tomorrow. Aside from the atrocity of cheap labor in a 3rd world country that has caused my wheels to be scratched and inflated with more air than max capacity. I was assured that the resurfacing was more like taking sandpaper to the rotor to remove foreign debris. I'm sure the issue will reoccur as the symptom was remedied and the cause was not addressed. When that time comes I will be sure to go straight to Kia headquarters for the Middle East. I didn't push the issue at this time because I believe in giving every individual rope to hang themselves with. Otherwise you just come off as a dick.

You've been driving with over inflated tyres that long? To my eye it looks like factory psi (all above 50, as far as I can tell), with three out of the four tires (tyres) losing air at the same rate, and only one being "stubborn". :D
 
Lol No, I came with all tires at or around 42psi. Max load on tires is 51psi. That picture was when the tires were cold.

How do tires inflate themselves?? When my TPMS reading is cold it is always two to three lbs under actual. And here it looks like yours are four to ten lbs above cold. Er what? o_O

They have removed the rotors. The rotors are dark grey and appear glassy with record disc like grooves all the way around on both the front and back side of rotors, but to the touch the grooves are smooth and not ingrained. The grooves are perfect circles but their placement differs from rotor to rotor (some being further out and others closer to the center.) The pads themselves are atrocious. On the inner edge [the edge that sits near the center of the rotor] it is very rough and worn down like a grinder was taken to it. They believe it's from dust and rocks. They also believe the glass like appearance of the rotors is coming from a lot of heat generated from hard braking. I assured them that we only have this one vehicle and it's used to transport either my wife or 1yr old son so unfortunately I have not been able to drive it hard. Also it's 6k km on a performance vehicle. If hard breaking was the culprit then the car is not much for performance. They will soon be checking the rotors for slight deviations in thickness because visibly there are no abnormalities.

Well, yeah. You and @Salman and @Huda live in the land of the scirocco, the kamsin, the whirlwind, with all that sand and dust! If anything is going to go quickly it will be the brakes. Imho. ;):P:unsure:
 
I wonder if there are any Kia approved aftermarket rotors and brakes in Korea.
