Who else has had warped rotors?

Hi Guys,
my experience with brake shuddering is far worse, at only 1800KM I returned the car for the brake issue to Great Western KIA last June, they machined the rotors, but it has been surfaced again after 5000KM only city driving, no hard braking or abuse, KIA rejected the warranty claim and says rotor shows signs of heat stress, despite I can get the OEM cheap from KIA, I have decided to file a complaint with NSW Fair Trading against the dealer and KIA Australia, as they should show more responsibility and respect to the customers, don't get me wrong, it may cost me much less time and headache to buy new rotors and the dealership offered me a free fitting for the new ones, but KIA must respect Consumer Guarantees clauses in ACL act.

as soon as I get a resolution I update you if you get into the same situation with KIA motors Australia with warranty claims.

It’s the stock combo of brake material not right for rotor material.Kia put all new pads and rotors at 12 Miles on my car. They last about 5000 miles before same problem. Bought a set of upgraded bermbo rotors and a set of ceramic carbon fiber pads and have not had any more problems

It's not rotors, its brake pad deposit as people don't bed in brakes correctly...go do 10 hard stops from 100 or so and then ldrive to let brakes cool naturally...it should get rid of shudder and coat disks properly...cheers

bedding is the correct procedure. Did it did not work . Did when I bought the car. Did again when they replaced all pads and rotors still pooped out. Changed up pads and have not had any problems sense bedding them in.

I bought slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads....then bedded them in, :geek:

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It comes and goes with my car. Haven't changed anything ~35K km. Probably every 6 months or so it has a bit of shudder, then it clears up. And of course the service guys can't replicate it, coz it's an intermittent issue.

I see in the thread the 'bed-in' solution, but that's not easy to achieve in practice - living in Sydney in this case. Should be solved at the factory.

Not ideal

Keep us posted Reza. I'm in NSW too, so will be keen to hear your outcome!!

Loving my car overall, best car I've owned. Nearly pipped by the VL Turbo back in the day! And the Mazda MPS6. Mainly for the lack of manual gear shift and control that KIA is willing to offer us. #StickShiftisGone

So, Kia went with spiff Brembos and matched them to crap rotors as an economy?
Likely. Brembo brakes make for a good selling point. Saying we have great rotors doesn't get the same kind of attention. So I would think it's entirely possible a car manufacturer would spend on areas that are selling tools for a car. All kinds of companies do that. It's their way of promising something without actually having to fully deliver on that promise.

Rotors are fine the brake pads they paired with rotors suck. Go with some carbon ceramic pads they work great with the brembo rotors

Damn that's a hell of a necro post, replying to a comment from '18.

I had breaks and rotors replaced at 18k miles on my ‘18 Stinger and just turned the rotors at the dealer on my ‘19 Stinger at 17k miles. So yes, I’d say it’s consistent the rotors aren’t well matched to the brakes from the factory. I’ll ride it until I can’t, then upgrade. $52k for the GT2 AWD is still a great value… you can’t expect $100k reliability on a $52k car I guess.
