Who else has had warped rotors?

This thread hasn't been touched in a month, did everyone's brake issues go away? Any updates on new 1-pc rotors (aftermarket), aftermarket pad performance, or issue resolution at Kia service departments? It would be good to hear how the new aftermarket pads were working out for anyone who kept the stock rotors.

I've got about 500 miles on turned rotors and new pads. No issues (yet).

I've got 3500km on my new Giro disc rotors and pads, and they have broken in great. Good initial bite, progressive feel, no hint in wiggle or wobble. Highly recommended

I've been waiting since October for back-ordered rotors. Fucillo Kia of Clay NY has agreed to replace them for a second time, but I haven't heard from them since November. On that note, still waiting for resolutions for leather seat wear and sunroof creaking. My faith in Kia and this dealership continues to wane...

A question that may or may not have come up. For those with the affected rotors, have all 4 been "damaged" or is the damage limited to the front 2 or rear 2 only? Also, anyone using aftermarket pads yet? I'm trying to get an idea about brake feel and dusting levels before I purchase a set of new pads. It may make sense to just replace the front pads and rotors if this is where the problems are happening.

8000 miles know issues yet. I also did proper bedding . Are you guys having these brake problems because they weren’t broke in right?

The pads are the weak link and without any precipitating event seem to leave pad materials on the rotor that generate hot spots. I think most people have had issue with the front brakes, but I would be interested to know if anyone's rear brakes have been affected.

I haven't had any rotor issues so far, though I've only had the car 4 months.

I’m 8 months in, 5K miles and {fingers crossed} no brake issues, or related vibrations.

cquence brakes gave me a quote for 322 an change for slotted an drilled rotors w/ceramic pads......but I have zero issues with the oem set up yet, 'cept for the occasional rust when she sits for awhile.
So I wonder if the warped rotors are a 3.3 problem because of the extra weight on the front.....

Update: 15K miles and 10 months and my brakes look almost brand new, according to the report from my last maintenance check a few weeks ago.

7 months and 13000 KM in and my brakes are great!

13 months in heard my first grinding noise on the front right. Only heard it once but it was a short sharp one . Was under heavy braking.

Rotors don't warp but they can wear unevenly (known as disc thickness variation - DTV) which is why you will get the pulsating when brakes are applied. Especially noticeable on down hill braking, even very gentle braking. DTV has nothing whatsoever to do with how you bed the brakes in and it is more common on some models of vehicles than others.

If the brake rotor has excessive run out you will get DTV sooner or later. It does not matter if you put new rotors and pads on, if there is still excessive run out on the brake rotor once fitted you will get DTV back again in 5-10000 miles. So if you have a DTV problem the first thing you need to do is to either machine the rotor or replace it and then when fitted check for runout. You will need to replace the pads also. If you find excessive runout on the brake rotor then the seating of the rotor on the hub needs to be checked because that could be the cause if it is not sitting true. If not the cause, the hub itself needs to be checked for runout because it may not be rotating true and once the rotor is fitted there will be excessive runout and DTV will be the result.
I complained to my dealer of DTV at the 20k service. The person doing the booking looked st me strangely. I said the mechanic will know what it is. When I picked up the car they said they couldn’t feel it and did nothing. Obviously they have not been taught how to use a micrometer or just couldn’t be bothered. It’s going back for a sunroof rattle and I’ll make sure it’s not returned until it’s fixed.
