Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

In 1st once the wheels start to spin, it likes to hit the rev limiter and kill power. Plus 2nd gives you more wheel speed to start and its easier to load the engine in a higher gear . Kinda like if you use launch control and the tires break loose , it runs up so fast it doesn't shift and it cuts power.
Yeah I've had the throttle cut shifting into 2nd on a prepped track lol

60ft is all torque and traction. I run around with a 1100hp f150 that runs 8.19 in the quarter that 60fts at 1.80s because he can't put the power down. A good long burn out and good track prep helps a lot. The hellcat next to me 60ft in the 1.40s as well. I asked when I got my timeslip if they had a problem and they said no. The 1.88 60ft was less boost off the line , that was my first launch with the brake snip.
Do you recall what rpm you launched at?
 
Sorry one more question, do you mash the pedal all the way down right away or do you ease into it a little?
Ease into it, It doesn't like it when you mash the pedal. I get the 1st staging light lit and start to come up on boost and light the 2nd stage and I start to ease on it when the tree starts. I'm steady with the throttle when I start to build boost a smooth motion

In two years you'll need more than that for top 20. Stingers will be a lot cheaper so more people will be in them and willing to mod more heavily. By 2023 top 20 will probably all be running meth, brake snip, FMIC, plus everything else you listed.

I think they're all going to be in the mid to low 11's also with a few 10's up top. It's getting extremely competitive.

Somebody will break into the 10s next month. They are really close already and the cooler temperatures will help a lot.

Definitely not anywhere near the top 20 but still a respectable time with only a couple of minor mods.

I was able to get a 12.619 @ 110.99 mph despite a lethargic 2.011 60 foot time. My only performance modifications are the AirScoops snorkels and the drop in AEM panel filter in the stock air box.

This is almost .4 seconds faster and exactly 3 mph faster than when I was completely stock. That is actually an astonishing difference considering the mods only cost about $250 total.

I was also really happy with my .081 reaction time. That is by far the best I have ever done. The left lane was a Nissan GTR. However, he almost crashed so that is the only reason I beat him.

Also I didn’t use any launch control for this. I don’t have the brake snip and I didn’t use the e-brake method. I used auto hold in “drive” and then just mashed the gas from a dig. However, I did use the paddle shifters from the 2nd to 3rd shift and beyond.

There were tons of crashes out there that day so I was concentrating on just not hitting wall. I missed the first shift.

Manually shifting appears to make a significant difference even on stock Stingers.

Overall I am entirely impressed what the Stinger is capable of without any sort of tune at all and with the stock air box, stock tires, and stock exhaust.

I could have gone much faster if the track conditions had allowed me to launch properly. I have gone below 2.0 for 60 foot times before when the surface wasn’t so dicey. That would have made a significant difference in my times if I had a better launch. My goal for the day was 12.6X at 111 mph so I was satisfied with the result and went home after only one run.
