New JB4 Stinger Dyno Results!

I recently bought a JB4 and currently have SSR downpipes installed, would I have to change my OEM spark plugs for aftermarket plugs even tho I only plan to run map1 or map2 if possible? Also can I run map2 with 91 octane or would I have to stay on map1 regardless of having the downpipes? Having downpipes and JB4 map1 what do you think my whp would be at and what kind of 0-60 and 1/4mi numbers would have residing in SoCal?
I just installed a JB4 myself about a couple weeks ago. Fully stock AWD, no mods outside of Denso spark plugs gapped to .022 as recommended by BMS. Map 1 was a huge improvement over stock. Very noticeable power increase at both low and high speeds. Map 2 has been giving me some "issues". I occasionally hear some odd sounds between shifts. At first I thought it was knocking, then I thought it was just things sliding around in my car between shifts, and now I'm not sure haha.

I'm running 93 octane in New Hampshire so I technically shouldn't have any issues on Map 2. Aside from the odd sounds I occasionally hear, the power difference between Map 1 and Map 2 is hardly noticeable (at least on my Stinger). Even looking at the logs, the boost levels are pretty much identical between Maps 1 and 2 for me. But that could just be because I don't have the fuel wire hooked up yet.

All that to say, you'll probably be fine with 91 octane on Map 1 for a great performance boost, but I would take it slow on Map 2 with 91 octane and watch your logs closely. Terry from BMS is a great resource too. Definitely send him your logs if you're ever unsure.

As for 0-60 times, I've shaved about .2 seconds off mine, give or take. I'm only measuring with the JB4 app, though, so it's not terribly accurate. Honestly, you'll notice the biggest improvement in the consistency of being able to get a hard acceleration pretty much any time you mash the pedal. I feel like my stock Stinger was hit or miss with whether or not you'd get pushed back hard in your seat. Even with my issues on Map 2, the JB4 was 100% worth it. You'll love it, even if you can only run Map 1

I'm curious to know what your JB4 says for 0-60 on your logs? Also, what is your location (I'm more interested in your altitude). I swear my JB4 0-60 reads slow, it should be in the 4's considering my 1/4 mile time. Either that or my 0-60 is legitimately slow and my car hauls ass in second gear or beyond lol. I can't get mine to show better than 5.125s yet.

Ok thanks, but realistically speaking I should see around a 50whp increase in power with the most basic setup on map1 right?
Map 8 is the real deal.
Forget about map 1,2,3.

Ahem. For those of us without a fish tank in the car, 3 works as DD.

Rolls like this for me. Yes, I know that many can and do make good use of 5-8. But 5,7,8 all have special needs not simply met in Western Washington, US or require substantial modification so they're off the table for me.

7: See #5. But not.
8: Mmm mm...that's some quality H2O!

Revised for Canada Land:

0: Not bad.
1: Acceptable
2: Is 91 octane actually 91? Is this faster?
3: What Octane?! E85? Where do I buy that?
4: Dealer Service Mode
5: Race Gas
6: Canada special gas mode (Map 1.5)
7: Splosion.
8: 2JZ swap incoming

Not common for me, I actually audibly laughed. Cow-orkers looked at me like I'd lost my mind. That part is common, however.

Really lmao, excited to get it set up pretty soon. Hopefully the power increase is noticeable. You think I'll be able to take on V8 muscle cars?
Yes, you may only get ~50whp without intakes, but you should get 475wtq+ or about 70-80wtq with your mods and enough to match or beat most stock V8s.

I and many people stayed right with SRT’s, SS’s & 5.0s to about 80mph with Stock Stingers so map1 with 2ndDPs should give most of them a run for the money, especially if driving manuals.

The Camaro and Mustang with the 8/10 speed auto trans are no joke at the strip though, low 12's, stock.

Is your Stinger RWD or AWD? Mine's RWD so I don't expect to outperform them insanely off launch but for sure a closer neck on neck race in higher speeds

Mine is RWD and using launch control and lower speeds up to 80mph is where we have the advantage against high HP V8s. Stock Stingers power falls off after 5k RPM so after 2nd gear those V8s will begin to walk away from us without mods.

My next question was going to be with what mods, for Map3?

You could run it with nothing but the JB4 and intakes, given that you have at least ~E15-E20 gas mixture. I would run some logs to make sure you're not pulling timing in any cylinder under full throttle (in 3rd / 4th gears). If you have E30 you'd be safe with map 5 (but also run logs to be sure)

Are you running Map 3 daily??
Pretty much. As @brancky3 mentions, with intakes. Boostane Pro in every tank, we don't have better than 92 octane readily available here. Logs have been looked at, no issues noted.

I'm currently running JB4 on Map 2 with intakes, secondary cat deletes, Borla cat-back, and the DENSO plugs, using Sunoco 93 octane. Haven't had any issues.
Sticking with the above mods for now, would you guys say adding Boostane and running map3 would work?

Yes. But log it under load (and on a hot day if possible) to make sure your car isn't pulling any timing. If it is, you'll see ign1, ign2, ..., ign6 start to 'step-down' instead of steadily rising to redline

And what "formula" are you using or recommend, in terms of mixing the boostane in with the 93octane.

Boostane reference.webp

Excel junkie.

Just pour the whole bottle of boostane in the tank and run Map 8 lol.

*Note* Do not do this.
