New JB4 Stinger Dyno Results!

I am genuinely interested if Costco is inferior to Shell. As per another Canadian user that inquired with Costco, apparently 91 octane Costco gas is ethanol free and it is also listed as Top Tier. I realize those two attributes do not make a superior fuel themselves, but those two credentials are attributes that Shell carries. I guess the proof would be in the logs, so to speak.
there's a difference between "quality" and "octane" a lot of people think 93 is higher quality fuel than 87, it isn't. Both are most certainly quality Top Tier rated fuels. Which one actually has the higher octane, well I have no idea. Run both, run some logs, post them up, that will help figure that out.

I think we need another thread for fuel discussion entirely

There is a lot of regional differences in fuel for whatever reasons. The best pump fuel I've seen is the stuff in Germany. They rate it RON99 (which, is similar to 94 RM2 octane) but it performs like unleaded race gas. And the worst is probably the Canadian 94 which sometimes acts like 93 octane, sometimes like 91 octane, and sometimes like 89 octane. lol

I recently bought a JB4 and currently have SSR downpipes installed, would I have to change my OEM spark plugs for aftermarket plugs even tho I only plan to run map1 or map2 if possible? Also can I run map2 with 91 octane or would I have to stay on map1 regardless of having the downpipes? Having downpipes and JB4 map1 what do you think my whp would be at and what kind of 0-60 and 1/4mi numbers would have residing in SoCal?

Change your plugs, its a cheap upgrade and necessary.

Thanks, just wanted to know before I went ahead and setup my JB4 with OEM plugs. What about running map2 on 91 octane with downpipes? Would that be reliable for daily driving?

You’ll be fine. BP carries 93 if you have that gas station.

I'm in the states so we don't have BP, 93 isn't impossible to come across in California but 91 is more common which is why I plan to continue pumping 91. Cuz I'm debating if map1 would even be worth setting up a JB4

There are BP's in California :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Map 1 is still a good increase in power over stock. The best thing to do is run whatever fuel you intend to (sounds like 91) and you can either review your own logs, or have Terry@BMS review it for you, just make sure to let him know you'd like him to review map 2 against 91 octane. It typically works fine, but some guys aren't getting the most out of the tune with 91, it really varies on the gas/station.

I guess I'll just stick to map1, with my downpipes and JB4 combo I should be around 400whp right? You think I'll be as quick as a V8 muscle car on the roll? My car as is already keeps up on the dig.

Any useful tuning advice has to be based on logs of the individual car. :)

Do I have to keep logs? Can't I just get a general idea of my cars performance by the setup? Reason being I don't have the bluetooth or data cable so I'm just setting it up blindly with a map1 preset

If you're just using map1 on pump gas, or map2 on good gas, no need to log, as those maps are not pushing things at all.

I really would like to know how many are needed.
I usually do 2.
I believe TorkMS and BMS said it took 5-6 WOT runs to fully adapt to the intakes, and that should apply to any mod where the ECU would have to adjust.

Ok thanks, but realistically speaking I should see around a 50whp increase in power with the most basic setup on map1 right?

Yes I'd expect so.

Even more noticeable than the 50WHP gain is the buttload more torque lol.

Really lmao, excited to get it set up pretty soon. Hopefully the power increase is noticeable. You think I'll be able to take on V8 muscle cars?

It depends which ones and other conditions. I formerly had a mildly modded 2015 Mustang GT with 6 speed manual. I was able to get a best of 12.9 @ 110mph quarter mile with 4200ft density (not good air). Similarly, Map 2 Stingers out here are about low 13's, some high 12's from what I hear. On the track with a great driver, most V8's should be faster than basic Map 2 (or Map 1) but it's not too far off. Where some of us gain is traction on the street in a 0-60 with AWD. I could barely get a 6 second 0-60 in the Mustang because the rear tires just couldn't hook up off the lights. Keep in mind a lot of guys with the V8's driving manual aren't as good at drag racing with a manual as they think they are lol. My buddy's former 2018 SS Camaro was no doubt more powerful than my Mustang, but he could not best a 13.6s his first time to the track.
