Navigation Update V14 due out April 20, 2020

This is interesting. I noticed that the SW/Firmware version does not look like mine: "CK19..." Yours is just "CK."

How did you receive the update? Did you order the SD Card from the Mapnsoft.com website? I have an existing case open and keep calling to get a status and they have no status. I'm thinking if you ordered the SD card from them recently, I'll call them back and ask that they send me a new SD card.

I ordered it from the Kia nav store. $25 for card plus shipping. I ordered it on July 10th or so?

I just installed my updated software for my 2018 GT2 and my version has Climate settings in the “All Menus” area. Maybe my version is the fixed version?

Is that a WiFi signal indicator on the top right or do you actually have a cell signal strength indicator that everyone else seems to have lost with 14.0?

Can you confirm that when you go into 'Climate' and 'Settings' that it does indeed allow you to set the ventilation settings?

Yes I can confirm that @siegs7 . I had never been there previously - until this came up. Here are photos step by step of how you can get there (for me) on this software version.
  1. Tap “All Menus”
  2. Tap “Climate” it’s likely on the second screen (I rearranged my screen icons)
  3. When climate screen comes on tap “Settings” in the right corner
  4. Boom there are your settings.
p.s. You can see in the upper left side that the Climate settings actually lives in “Vehicle Settings” from the setup menu. You should be able to see it that way as well.

It’s the connected WiFi. I haven’t figured out why WiFi is needed on the car yet. I hope to eventually.

Perhaps there is a head-unit difference between the 2018/2019 GT2 Stingers?

This is what the SD card is stamped with and what I installed. Does yours show the same 'version' of upgrade?

So those of us with 2018 MY have to purchase the SD from Kia for the update? I thought there would be a free download but I cannot find it.

When I updated mine a few months after getting it, I was told that this update (then 12.5) was just to bring it up to current spec, since a brand new car should have the latest version; and I was also told that I'd get ONE free upgrade; which I have not used yet. There was no time limit on when I get my free upgrade. I plan to contact Kia directly about this, rather than pursue this alone.

I am not the original owner of the car so I don't know if I still get the free update. I do still have the full warranty as it was a certified pre-owned. I don't mind spending $25 on a sd card if I have to. I spend thousands already on mods, tires and alignments and fuel.

I have the exact same SD card version number on mine. I would imagine there is probably a difference in head units. You have the 360 cam, wireless charging, etc correct? 2018 doesn't have those.

You are correct - I do have those extra features. I didn't realize there were so many differences between the 2018/2019 GT2 models.

I just confirmed on the SD card there is a CK folder and CK19 folder.

Didn't 2018 models with the very first software release (12.0?) have an option to connect to local wifi hotspots for google search? I seem to remember someone showing pictures of that.

My 2018 (Canada) is always connected to cellular, and can do online searches.

But not WiFi.

In the USA, cellular was never a thing, and if I recall, wifi only physically existed in the 2018 head unit, and google search only worked in software v12.

The way I read that is that’s it’s the LTE card that’s in your head unit. I believe it’s Canada and not US.

I wish the US version had cellular. I just bought a new Acura and it has cellular which provides some pretty nifty remote functions.

Btw, has anyone noticed the changes that keep happening on the two map update websites? The mapnsoft website sometimes shows no update available and then, a few days later, the 142S5_A version is available for purchase again. You would think that these menu issues would mean they'd take it off the site until a new version is available. And the update.kia.com website now allows you to download the updater software, but it's the Korean version. I didn't bother to install it because I can't read Korean. At least it looks like someone is working on the website.

NAVIGATION SOFTWARE UPDATE 14 NOT FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH 2018 STINGER GT2

Ordered update with SD card labeled 142S5_A; version number from the SD card file CK.USA.SOP.V115.200401.STD_H, and installed. Everything look great with updated features EXCEPT I can not navigate to a specific address like: 123 Oak Street, Anywhere, US State. The “Address” icon from before is gone and in it’s place they say to use the magnifying glass.

From my reading the features of the new update and talking to the EVO support staff, the new version is coded to access a cloud based server for addresses instead of the files on the SD card as before. EXCEPT, the 2018 Stinger GT2 is not compatible with that feature; so they built in a work around to try to access the address files they added to the SD card so it functions like before.

The coding works with a previous destination, added with the original version and saved when it updated so that is not the issue., the issue is there is no input screen or menu for a specific address like 123 Oak St., Anywhere, US State to which to navigate.

The magnifying glass icon takes you to an input line that is structured for POI, not a specific address. It ask for Name, address zip code etc to ONLY search for a POI and if you put in an address like 123 Oak St, it searches and will give the closes matches to a POI, not an address. It particularly has search return problems with an out of state address you try to input.

Thankfully, if you are going on a long trip, you can input the zip code for the city as a POI and it will give you guidance, so the highways between your origin and destination cities have updated guidance. It may be possible when you get to the destination city to find the street as a POI but not sure.

I also tried the voice input with the same results; that doesn't work either for a specific address--works OK for POI

So to use the update, I will need to open my Waze or goggle map or other navigation app on my phone to get to the specific address. Or just forget the navigation all together.

There may be one other work around I have not tried, that is to enter my 123 Oak St, Anywhere, US State in my phone contacts and the sync the address book and then maybe I can find it in the address book, but why does the Kia navigation program do that as before.

I have tried re installing 4 times, spent hours trying to find a way to enter a specific address but have not been successful. Note: there is no guidance in the magnifying glass input as to format such as a comma or space or whatever between address fields.

If you update the map software to version 14 in your 2018 Stinger GT2, be aware it is not fully compatible.
