• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

MY21 Aussie Release Date

Cancelled the order with dealer. Not prepared to wait another 2 months and even then possibly get further pushback. Dealer to to blame in my view. This is Kia's doing. Pandemic or not they should be able to commit to delivery dates from time an order is taken. Dealer advised some models are now going out to almost 6 months. Take an order today and be lucky to see it in July.
So you’ve cancelled your revised Mid-April delivery to a July delivery? You didn’t want to wait 2 months but you’re now waiting 5 months? What if the July gets pushed back too...

Bit confused on the logic with this one

Given up on a Stinger. Pivoting back to a Mustang which is what the boss really wants.

Dealer calling to say your car in now in production is a pointless shot at customer service. I got two text about 3 weeks apart saying my car is now in production. Before anyone thinks ahead, No, I only booked one car.

From my watching Ultimate Factories, these mass-produced cars are usually rolled out one day or two at max. My estimated delivery is March/April, essentially says my car will be sitting somewhere waiting for the next shipment - in South Korea's winter.

Just venting.

When did you make the order?

Presuming that the cars will come down on the same ship on the same route, and are ready to go on 26th Feb '21 when it's due in Islan again, it will be in Port Kembla ~ 28/03/2021, sounds about right for what the dealers are now saying, unless of course sooner if someone cancels your choice of colour.

There’s a global computer chip shortage it’s affecting the entire industry, not just Kia. No doubt it’s frustrating for those waiting for orders but it’s hardly the fault of the dealership.
You're absolutely right. Not the dealers fault but it is the responsibility of the dealer to keep us informed as openly and honestly as they can and not spin bullshit

To be clear, I am not saying it is the dealer's fault. They are between a rock and a hard place. In fact I've been very happy with the service we got from the dealer. Hell they agreed to tear up the contract and refund deposit. It's Kia (and any manufacturer) I have an issue with...they should be more transparent when accepting an order through their dealer network. An expectation must be made and then met or exceeded.

Based on this article the chip shortage does not seem to be the main source of the issue for Kia since it seems they have secured enough of them in inventory. Obviously, the entire supply chain these days is more complex and manufacturing cars while ensuring the employees are safe and following changing governments policies around the world is also a challenge. Everything takes longer to ensure Covid rules are applies including transportation and car preparation.
Global Auto Chip Shortage, Exacerbated By Locked-Down Gamers, Should Recover Soon

Also remember that a cargo boat full of KIA sank in december 2020 I believe, I am sure this affected some of the promise done in November / December.
Cargo Ship Traded Subcompacts for Kia Tellurides before Capsizing

I do understand that KIA should have better assessed the future potential impacts for Covid19 but it is not easy. Every industries, every countries are fighting for their own goods for chips, vacine etc. and very difficult to foresee where it will go wrong.

The sinking of the car carrier in 2019 would have no impact on Australian delivery dates, it sank off the US coast and was carrying US model vehicles from Kia, Chevy, and RAM.
The bigger impact is the computer chip shortage caused by COVID, whilst Hyundai/Kia had secured more chips than others it still has an impact. They’re now releasing models with some features missing such as auto wipers, just to get cars to dealerships. COVID has had a massive impact on manufacturing with many industries having to pivot to address different demands as well as the impact on their workers. Every industry has been hit and some will recover quicker than others.

Agreed, but the sales monkey at the front desk isn’t likely even aware of the bigger issue and spinning bullshit is their default position. Not making excuses for them, it’s pathetic and as frustrating as hell trying to deal with it and not getting a straight answer.

When the stinger was released they weren’t even aware of all the features of the car, even when I bought mine 8 months after they’d been on sale here I still knew more from doing basic research than the sales guy did. If they don’t know the features of what they’re selling they’re not likely to know the details of what’s impacting a global supply chain and holding up delivery.

It’s always bullshit o’clock at a car dealership regardless of the circumstances.

Just a question for you folks that are driving the 2021 build. As I'm waiting for mine to arrive, will this item from the stinger shop fit the new wheel design:
Genuine 4 Kia Stinger OEM "E" 18 Inch Wheel Center Caps

Sorry cant post the link as I'm a newb. It's the only item in the store that appears to fit but just want to make sure.
