3.3TT Low Oil Pressure

For what it's worth, the wix application for the 2.5T is completely wrong. They specify a spin on when the car takes a cartridge. Did the old 2.0T's take a spin on?

That really sucks, it doesn't help you, but i have "The Mechanic" extended warranty and it is covered. I guess I just lucked out, because that part is not something I would have checked to see if it was covered.

Going on 3 weeks now and the oil light sensor has not turned on. No leaks car is running fine. Go figure. Thanks guys for the input. Will keep posted if engine blows up.

All good news ..

Stay away from those wrong sized oil filters .

I will explain more when I pick uo the vehicle on Tuesday. The dealer charge just to diagnose and check the oil pressure sensor will be about 1000 dollars. To replace the part and after all seals and gaskets they quoted me 5grand. I was like WTF. Now my drive train warranty expires at 100k. I'm currently 98k. But what they told me it's the oil pressure sensor is not covered. I will post once I get the breakdown. IM a littlebshocked right now.

DRIVETRAIN WARRANTIES DO NOT COVER SENSORS BUT DO COVER INTERNAL LUBRICATED COMPONENTS OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

This just happened to me took it into the dealer to check. Be prepared for this. It's not covered under warranty and the part is t Available anywhere in the US. So I was told. I also got hit with parts and labor of over 5grand wtf. Technician said my pressure was fine but a failing sensor.
Did you end up replacing it or you left it did it cause any problems

I have this issue now. Oil pressure light came on.
83k miles - ‘18 Gt
took to local dealership and they said oil pressure sensor is leaking and
told not under warranty
but can give a discount since already doing a tuneup service
$3400
almost lost it
not sure what to do?
seems way too costly
any advice appreciated

Why is this NOT under warranty?
What's the reasoning exactly.

Also, $3400 is the DISCOUNTED price?

Take it to a reputable shop...I bet they can do it for a fraction of that price. Dealerships have a book that quotes the amount of time specified for the repair...it can usually be done with alot less work than they specify.

Yep, vehicle was due for some other service, tuneup- fluid changes, so I guess this lead to the generous offer.
was busy at work today when i found this out
so did not get to look into it tonite
plan on calling early morning and telling them I want my car outta there
hopefully they have not done any of their overpriced service yet
just don’t see coughing up $5k or so for all this

As to warranty, they say it is not covered under the 10yr /100k mile power train warranty

and I read a few threads on here that seem to unfortunately say this is correct

Here's the pertinent warranty statement for my MY '22. Sensors do not appear to be a covered part for the engine.

Didn’t mind paying the dealer a bit more for the service since only got three more payments and was planning on doing some real mods/tuning with my nephew who‘s been going to school for this (only have injen intake so far)

so figured I’d get a clean bill of health before getting into the project

but definitely not in for their $3400 discount on the oil pressure sensor

guess I shoulda known better — these days all big companies do is seem to rip us off

I paid $1800 for that extended "platinum" warranty. We'll see if i ever use it. 9 years remaining.

I find it always a tough call on extended warranties… buy one and usually don’t need it
dont buy it and it breaks down

but seems like a good idea here after seeing how all these components are buried within the engine on our Stingers and how complex it all is

We're gonna need someone to jump in and replace this oil pressure sensor when the time comes and document a step-by-step in the How To section of this forum. Paying $3400 to replace a sensor sounds like a "no deal". I could justify doing a lot of wrenching for $3400.

Seeing if anyone has had any experience with this before I take it to the dealer.

Oil pressure light comes on while idling, under 800 RPM it will come on and go off once I go over 800 RPM.

No CEL, oil is at Full mark on stick, oil changed 2k miles ago with 5w-30, at 61k miles.
I have the same issue with a 2019 Kia Sorento ex 3.3 The dealer quoted me 2,000 in parts and labor to change out the oil pressure switch. Mine is out of warranty wit 130,000. miles on it. However the problem has been around for awhile. They even extended the warranty for the switch to 10 years 150,000 miles but only up to 2018 model year. I'm going to request a meeting with the dealer principle on the matter and get it covered by Kia or I'm going public with the issue witch would cost Kia a shit ton of money.

I hope this works for you

I would love to read a good news story about Kia covering a failed sensor.

Waaaay too high. My oil pressure switch went out as well at 68,000 miles. It's at a shop now (not a dealer). Diagnostic cost was $175. Their list price for parts and labor was $1386 (with no additional charge for the diagnostic). I have an extended warranty which fully covers labor and MSRP for the parts (the switch and gaskets). With the parts markup, which was almost double MSRP (which the warranty doesn't cover), it was going to be $590 out-of-pocket (including the $100 warranty deductible). I talked them into a lower-priced markup tier. So, my total out-of-pocket will be about $350. List price with the lower parts markup would have been about $1,000.
