Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

Is there a way to get the v13.5?...
I'm running on v12.47.44.510.105.4

Or just wait until I can actually download this v14.5.....But site says Map Version After Update - NAM.13.41.41.XXX ...Part # 144S5_A

Now I think I'm confused..lol

I think v12.47.44.510.105.4 is 13.5 Mine is 14 but I wrote down the version before I upgraded last time and it matches that version.
The 14.5 update comes out on the 25th I think, I would just wait for that. I think they took the ver 14 offline because 14.5 is so close to release.

Is there anything useful in terms of functionality in 14.5, or just the map updates?

I hope they fix the usb music screen.
The title font is so large you can only read half of the title.
Old system had a scrolling title.

Need to go to the HOME screen (triple pane) to see song title.

Yes...how many version updates does it take to address such a simple issue? It's still not fixed in v.14. The whole design is ridiculous to place a gigantic USB stick icon right where the information about the track should go. Cut the icon size by 75% and you wouldn't need to scroll most titles in the first place, though scrolling is still/always needed for long titles. The "..." is still there to suggest it will scroll...it just doesn't :(

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yes, for those of us who prefer to not listen to crap quality MP3s and need a lot of space for lossless files...too much to put on phone.

how big of a difference does it make over CarPlay? I’m not an audiophile, but I am always wanting better quality

Use a good streaming service - Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon HD, all probably better than what you have loaded on a USB stick

If you use a streaming service (Spotify, Apple, etc.) just go into the settings and make sure both the streaming and download quality is set to the maximum. I promise you won't be able to tell it's not lossless.

I promise you that is not true ;) The audio quality in the Stinger is already so poor that I cannot afford to feed it less than CD-quality inputs. And, you can only get higher-quality (than crap) files by paying for the premium versions of the streaming services--and even then you do not get FLAC/lossless quality. Sorry, I do not want to pay for the premium streaming service and premium data plan on my phone necessaryto deal with the huge files just to get something still worse than USB. And, because I have an Android phone that connects via Bluetooth, it wouldn't matter what else I pay for, the music file quality will be limited to sub-standard just because of the limitations of the Bluetooth connection.

Anyone here have links to the technical specs of the various music streaming services file formats? Let's see what is really being offered and what you get via Bluetooth versus connection to a proprietary box (e.g., from Apple).

I use Spotify, set to the highest possible audio quality.

14.5 Update is confirm for tomorrow, August 25th. KIA Consumer Affairs finally got back to me.

The KIA Update tool, was able to download the most recent available software and for the first time since I bought my Stinger I was able to update the Navi. Talk about a nice upgrade! Damn, looks much more refined.

I posted some stuff a while ago - but Spotify is pretty poor quality (192mbs MP3 IIRC) but light years ahead of XM
Tidal standard 16/44.1kHz (CD)
Tidal Hifi up to 24/192kHz (plus MQA)
Qobuz basic 16/44, sublime 24/192kHz
Amazon HD up to 24/96kHz

I hate to go off topic, but using my iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Cable, and CarPlay, what service will net me the best quality?

I'll snag a tiny thumb drive and check that out.

Can you use a USB splitter (two usb)?

Thanks for this info!

All of these listed are in a category I refer to as "crap." And wonderful to anyone who can't hear the difference or doesn't care...not trying to impose standards on anyone else. But regardless of whatever native format is used, is it not also true that Bluetooth is incapable of transmitting the high-quality rates anyway? The whole scheme is designed for lowest common denominator quality to achieve maximum convenience (and coincidentally I am sure dollar flow to the providers).

If you are bluetoothing then crap is what you are going to get - use a 3.5mm cable or USB cable from your phone

I would use Tidal, works beautifully with Carplay / AA

If you use Android Auto then you get USB audio (e.g. not A2DP). So you can hook it up and try this test:
