Friends can say no wrong !!

I purchased a 2019 Kia Stinger GT a few weeks ago and it came with v12.5. Called Kia customer service and they recommended to wait until January as v14 will be out then. At least they are offering me one free update since I just purchased my car. I'm thankful for a free update, but it's sort of ridiculous that updates are ~$140 when they primarily fix issues with the entertainment system along with minor revisions to the maps...
That will only be "wait indefinitely", because there is always another updated version coming out.I just got my free upgrade V13.5 from 12.5 in the mail last week. Didn't know v14 was about to come out or I would have waited.
Not my/our experience. Kia Stinger Navigation Map UpdateFor what it's worth, I called Kia Customer Service today who told me that "sometimes" they were able to help out owners and give a free update. I did not ask for a freebie, but I did tell them that the car is only a month old and the maps/software on the car was outdated. They then transferred me to UVO support who told me, in so many words, to go pound sand and that I'd have to pay for the update or work with the dealer for any other options.
Quality customer support for a $52,000 car.

Completely agreed, and if the UVO updates weren't bundled with the maps, I probably wouldn't even bother. My map-related complaint is that the speed limits are ALL wrong around my house and it annoys me to no end. It looks like they must have grabbed them when all the roads here were getting widened/under construction.
Unfortunately, this is still the problem with KIA. #1, a stupid decision to not ensure cars delivered to customers always have the latest software as part of the expensive paid-by-the customer dealer prep line item. #2, inconsistent response regarding who gets a "freebie" update and when/under what circumstances.
Fortunately, KIA Canada came to their senses and now gives effectively unlimited free updates (there are only two per year anyway) as the Aussies had all along and as are offered in several other markets. The maps are still woefully out of date (relies on HERE's user updating, which is slow and spotty, especially for the speed limit info used by that particular driving nanny); some of the nav and infotainment features are crap compared to much cheaper cars; the UVO system can only be updated in concert with the maps, which is ridiculous considering that the system functionality affects almost everything in the car and many people could not care less about the maps because they are using their phone for that--but at least we no longer have to pay for the privilege of being insulted with substandard software and maps.
You'll get your freebie - all updates are free to all Canadian cars now, for 5 years. The current version is 13.5 (fall 2019).Does anyone know if the promised (or mentioned) Jan update is out? I need to do mine and if I can't convince KIA for a freebee, I only want to do it once - thanks
Still not seeing it. I created an account on the site and went to Map Updates and it is $199
