Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

Im excited for the Version numbers in our German cars .. will it be the Same.. hmm..

Download is not possible here :(
Vendor needs to do it. 6 Updates are free here (1 Update is Done when receiving it)

Ok, I managed to download the update for the Stinger's Navigation Maps, it has been downloaded to a removable USB memory stick, to load it into the car's system, do you just stick the memory stick in the usb port next to the wireless charging pad in Aussie Stingers ?
I'm not sure about that method. I removed the nav SD card from the car and put it in a laptop for direct download.

I was told only the first one was free? How accurate is your mail? It would be great if thats true.
I believe it's one per annum or when a new version is released.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
FWIW, the SD card sent to me for the nav update was 32Gb, FAT32.

Well all the updates downunder are free!

I'd take that over headphones. One of the things that will eventually push me to get a Tesla is their support and added software features over the life of the car.

Anyone without nav know about an UVO update for us yet? I just stopped at my service department to schedule an appointment for next week and while I was there my SA told me there's an update for my "audio system" which they will install while I'm there, however I have not been able to find anything about it online yet?

It looks like a new update to v13 will be available soon. I would encourage everyone to fill out the feedback survey. If they get enough ppl to complain about the cost, maybe they will include for free some day. Prob not though.

I cannot post links or images yet, just use google.

I’m lazy. What does v13 have that 12.5 doesn’t besides any map update?

The change log hasn't been released yet. I would assume it won't be released until the update itself is live.

What feedback survey are you talking about? If you want to tell KIA the maps should be free in all countries instead of just some the way it is now, you should call or write the KIA headquarters in your country.

For anyone who has done the update, have you noticed that the folder option in the 'List' for USB media has been removed? Why would Kia do this? Why take something away that was there before and working fine? Something that is just a basic sort function of any software/media player? I could not believe it; still cannot. I had the option before the update, now it is gone. Which sucks because now there is no way to separate any of my music. I usually listen by genre or category, or sometimes just a folder full of specific songs. So, maybe a folder for seasonal listening...or a road trip, or just plain 'rock', 'pop' and so on. Now that they have removed the folder option, any time you set to shuffle, it will ignore the folders and instead jump throughout all media. So could be listening to rock one second, then suddenly it is Christmas music (just as an example). Before, when set to Folder, it would shuffle just within that specific folder (which is how it works on every other car I have ever seen). This is awful and is just another item in the long list of poor Kia engineering/design decisions.

Version 13 is up

http://download.mapnsoft.com/mapcare_download/Software/v13.0/pdf/KMA_New_Map_Features_132S5.pdf

New in v13
- 7.7M+ miles in maps (compared to 6.9M in 12.5)
- Mexico is now in maps (774k miles)
- +1.1M POIs
- Latest Apple Car Play (Maybe. It says that this came with v12 but also states that it comes when they update the maps?)
- Latest Android Auto (Maybe. It says that this came with v12 but also states that it comes when they update the maps?)
- Voice Recognition by search functions (new button by search bars)
- Navigation "Button long press for short cut (whatever that means?)
- New Road Symbols on the map (Better interstate symbols)

No word on pricing just yet.

In south Texas, the HUD speed signs are wrong more often than they are correct. Ver 12.5 of the map database still shows roads that were removed more than 5 years ago. Annual updates may be a nice revenue scheme, but for the consumer they are a joke.

Any word on if they put the 'folder' option back in? I would buy it just for that.

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "List" is/was the only option that played songs in albums in proper album order instead of alphabetical order--and the only way to brows your music in a sane manner, even if it didn't work that well and had a clunky screen interface (e.g., always returning to the top of a directory list instead of back to where you were when you "drilled down."

This is truly incompetence beyond all measure. Several of us pointed out the dysfunctional music sorting functionality (and have whinged on here about it) to KIA more than a year ago. This is the response!!??!??!?!?!?!

Hopefully improved speed limit accuracy in those new miles.

Nope. You can go to the HERE maps online to check what is in there yourself. Even the "live" (most up-to-date) online maps are riddled with errors and, even worse, omissions. I could spend countless hours volunteer hours updating them just for my neighbourhood and region...only to then have to pay KIA to eventually have them show-up in my car (the paid maps will always be behind the online version).

Or, KIA could just use the cameras that are already in the higher-end cars with nav and avoid the entire problem (as other manufacturers do--and so does KIA in other markets). I already posted a link on here somewhere of them advertising their version of the camera-based system I had in previous Volvo's that "read" the signs off the side of the road instead of relying on an inevitably outdated nav map.

Not unique to your region. I noticed three errors on my first trip--the five minute drive between the dealer and my home! The map-based speed limits are wrong such a high proportion of the time that they cannot be relied upon and are therefore useless as a feature. Or, worse than useless, if you actually use them for guidance.
