Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "List" is/was the only option that played songs in albums in proper album order instead of alphabetical order--and the only way to brows your music in a sane manner, even if it didn't work that well and had a clunky screen interface (e.g., always returning to the top of a directory list instead of back to where you were when you "drilled down."

This is truly incompetence beyond all measure. Several of us pointed out the dysfunctional music sorting functionality (and have whinged on here about it) to KIA more than a year ago. This is the response!!??!??!?!?!?!
Yes, at least with the 'folder' option under LIST you could put an album together in one folder and then play through that way. Now cannot even do that.

Everyone better start blasting KIA customer service about this. Even if they listen and agree, it will take months to get a new version ready with the fix in it.

And did they add any better texting functionality to the pathetic offering introduced in v12.5?

Not sure what version I have, I had mine sent to me about 3 weeks ago. Am hoping someone with this 13.0 version can speak to these functions. I do not care about maps....isn't that the point of the phone integration? And no traffic on maps is pointless.

For anyone who has done the update, have you noticed that the folder option in the 'List' for USB media has been removed? Why would Kia do this? Why take something away that was there before and working fine? Something that is just a basic sort function of any software/media player? I could not believe it; still cannot. I had the option before the update, now it is gone. Which sucks because now there is no way to separate any of my music. I usually listen by genre or category, or sometimes just a folder full of specific songs. So, maybe a folder for seasonal listening...or a road trip, or just plain 'rock', 'pop' and so on. Now that they have removed the folder option, any time you set to shuffle, it will ignore the folders and instead jump throughout all media. So could be listening to rock one second, then suddenly it is Christmas music (just as an example). Before, when set to Folder, it would shuffle just within that specific folder (which is how it works on every other car I have ever seen). This is awful and is just another item in the long list of poor Kia engineering/design decisions.
So are you saying the music is still in folders but you cant random play within that folder?

I read it as the opposite. You can no longer play an album as an album. Random play/shuffle always works because that seems to be what most people want to do these days. I never do that. I want an album played in album order. But let's wait for those who have the update to confirm.

The prior system (all versions) was already bad enough in that only one of the three modes (Files) worked properly. The other two play albums in alphabetical order or random order, but not song order. Random is great for those who want it. Who on Earth ever plays an album in alphabetical order? Complete user interface design incompetence that has now apparently been made worse (didn't think it was possible).

So, I should still have this "folders option?" I've never played USB any other way than this method: From the top of the list, I scroll down through the alphabetical list of albums (folders) until I see the one I want, then I open it and start playing with track one. The tracks are listed in proper order, of course, because that is how they were ripped onto my "Music" folder on my laptop; and I duplicated them to the USB drive. I tried shuffle once and discovered that it doesn't shuffle within the folder I am in, so I don't "shuffle" anymore. Too irritating! "Big Bands" followed by Chopin? Doesn't work.

If you have (or rather, had) some method of shuffling within a single album/folder, please explain how that is done.

Shuffling within an album is not a priority. Figuring-out if v13 screwed-up the only working method to listen to an album is.

Next question for those who updated is whether KIA did fix the alphabetical order only play in Album and Artist modes. Maybe they fixed that and thought no one needs File or folder browsing any longer (wrong!)?

So, within album/folders, your tracks are alphabetized? If I were to plug my USB drive into your car, and look at the order of, say, Days of Future Passed, it would list Dawn, Evening and Lunchbreak before any of the "The" tracks? How could the car mess with the USB order, since these files are taken from my laptop's ripped CD folders and files order, which are original to the CDs?

This has already been discussed in threads that you replied to. Do we need to repeat the discussion again?

I've been waiting for a new update. I'm on the version that shipped with my car in December 2017. I'd like some voice integration for text messaging (Android) has this been added and does it work well?

Added in v12.5. Very poor and sparse implementation (similar to what other cars had 5 years ago). We were hoping for an upgrade with v13, but no mention of it so far. It may have been changed, though--they don't bother providing detailed notes or instructions.

It's different. There wasn't any description of tracks within an album folder being in alphabetical order for playback. Am I not understanding what is being said this time? It sounds like a new wrinkle in the latest "upgrade" since we talked about it before.

So,lets get this straight there are no longer any folders of music shown despite they were put on the usb in folders?

I have been talking about this for more than a year on here... You tested various USB formats and already confirmed after initial confusion that your car was the same as the rest of ours. Go look at it now in your own car instead of posting more messages! ;)

I will just go back to my thread downunder to get a a straight answer.

How can @AV8R's question be considered the same thing we were talking about before?

Yes, the folders/albums get listed alphabetically. But scrolling through them and selecting one does not turn the tracks within the albums into alphabetical order in my car, which has version 12.5. The tracks play in the normal order as they were ripped from the CD.

The change is in the April update (v.13)--what do you think would happen in your car without the update? All of us without the update have the same system we had yesterday or the day or week or month before. ?!?

Yes, but for 90% of us they do not. They re-sort into alphabetical order. There may be some magic combination of music file format, USB file format, size of USB stick, etc., that works. But unlike a MP3 player, which is what the car should be replicating, many, many combinations do not work. Only the "Files" options plays properly, and now people are reporting it has been removed as of v.13. So a great reason not to update to v.13 and to remind KIA USB music already didn't work properly (for the majority) in the first place.

Finally, thanks.
I dont have an issue at present everything works as it should. My suggestion to members is get a copy of the previous update and down grade back to it if that helps until the issue is sorted out.
