Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Where would you get rust sediment? From rusty tanks at the stations?
Yes this is what I was told, but hell the know all expects are on here so Always take their word as gospel. What would my wife know having worked at petrol refinery? Shxt does get into fuel tanks but maybe it's restricted to down here.

Sure it does, but the amount of fuel in the tank in your car is irrelevant. That's the point. Either your fuel filter catches it or it does not. Sediment will sink to the bottom of the tank where the fuel comes out (e.g., after the car is sitting still for hours or days), so the amount of gas in the tank is irrelevant.

In the olden days of non-sealed tanks, there was an issue of condensation, especially in cold weather countries. You didn't want all the condensation to mix with a very small amount of fuel (water in the fuel), so in the winter it was a bad idea to let the tank go below half or a third. That issue has not existed for many years.

Well this is good to know not having to fear running the tank down. It has a small enough capacity as it is imo.

Was vacuuming more thoroughly than usual, which included the little cubbies in the center console. The smaller one released the bottom and it came up on the end of the vacuum hose. Removeable! Well I never. Then I moved to the front one (after removing my USB stick) and the same thing almost happened; it didn't come up on the end of the hose, but it did move enough to show that it, too, is removeable.

There's a small vertical tab on each for easy removal, unless you want to use a vacuum.

Yeah, I saw that after I sucked out the small one. That's how I removed the front one. :D

How many of you have noticed this "bottles only, do not put open drinks here" icon? :D The sun was shining directly on the inside of the door yesterday and I saw it for the first time.

Never noticed that before either. Must be because I usually have a water there. :geek:

right now I have a full set of golf clubs a tool set ,shoes countless articles of clothes and a few tools and such.....the rear hatch is a lot of space.

..the rear hatch is a lot of space.
Sounds like my hatch. The floor is 80% covered 100% of the time. I can still fit a lot more in there without lowering the seats.

lol....I was using the rear seating area instead, until the car show yesterday.......cleaned and put new auto carpet down (on top of the stinger ones)...9 bucks at the neighborhood flea market...good score.
