GT 2 AWD NOT REALLY A STINGER!?!?

Were you aware of the decreased top speed limit when you purchased your Stinger?

Hate to add to this War and Peace post but I am totally confused on which Stingers are speed limited and which are not. I have a GT2 AWD that came 19' wheels and Michelin Sport tires. Door jam sticker says this also. So is my Stinger speed limited? Are all AWD Stingers speed limited or just the AWDs with the 18' all seasons. I've read differing "facts" on this in this post. Also is there any way to tell if your car is speed limited besides a road test? maybe a vin # lookup or something?

The speed limit is totally dependent on the tires that came from the factory on the car. Your GT2 with 19" wheels is 167 mph limited. The tires are "Y" rated and as long as the door sticker shows those tires, you're good to 167 if you have guts to try it.

Thanks for the answer. Let me find a stretch of road in the middle of nowhere!:)

You need about 3 miles of road. Car will hit max speed in first mile

I am just frustrated at the fact I was not given the option or informed of the limp dic* in the ECU programing at the time of purchase the dealer knew why I was buying this car I was not given the option to check any boxes I was sold a car with all season package already added to it, if I was informed I defiantly would haves said no F'ing way keep the 18's please. I saw this car driving by the kia dealer and fell in love immediately I stopped and wanted it , I didn't play around online building anything I am from the old school I want to deal face to face and speak to a human I should of thought like a millennial and googled the shit out of everything and asked siri all the things I wanted to know instead of put my trust in a human being live and learn but you bet your as* I WILL find a way to rid this car of its limp dic* syndrome I wont show up to the track with a piece of perfection with a limp peepee. it hits 134 and begs me for more and I then shed a tear. I don't understand why we can not put 19 inch tires on the car with the proper tire speed rating and have it inspected by the dealer them selves by there "best" tech and have the limiter aka limp dic* removed. Some people here can say it makes no difference to them but like Segador and myself and I'm sure others once your let down when you find out your gorgeous Stinger is missing its sting will be upset. I am done speaking and posting about it now you wont hear about it from me again I have said my peace but I will find a way to get it removed or overridden with kia helping or not.

I'd look at the speed rating on the tires. Everything I have learned, only the 18" all season are limited. Please come back and tell us what your tires read.

Might have something to do with all wheel drive set up

I thought that too, but preferred customer service guy, (bill west) said it was about the tires. I don't know, would certainly like to know.

145mph in my gt until I chicken out. But engine kept pulling until I turned into chicken.

Your not a chicken! Dont do it unless it's safe, only a fool would do it if it wasnt safe. SAFE is you being confident with the area, and the vehicle. Take your time, be safe.

The window sticker should clearly state if your vehicle comes with the 18 inch wheels and all season tires, under that option it will also tell you the vehicle is limited to 130 MPH.
This is the speed rating on the tires, the 19in variants are limited to 167.

Yeah I agree they need to have a disclaimer on the Maroney sheet.

However, on the web it's pretty clear...to me at least.

Hope you find a lawyer good enough to resolve your issues. Good luck.

I want to know what’s it’s top speed here in Canada, we only have two stingers to pick from. The GT or the limited, both with AWD and 19” tires.

Have the Michelin Pilot Sport 4, 19' (ZR rated ... up to 187 MPH) on my AWD so I guess I'm good to go 167 MPH. True, safe road test sometime20180401_013822.webp in the future to be 100% sure. Unanswered questions drive me crazy!!! Will be a once in a lifetime experience, lol. Very rarely do I speed. I prefer very fast acceleration to high speed driving:D.

I’ll check mine out in the morning, just saw a video on YouTube and this guy took it to 270kmh(167mph) easy.

With the 19s it should be 167 , unless there is some law in Canada that cars can't go that fast in Canada. The 18s supposedly are the only ones limited to 130 . There's been quite a few discussions and disappointments from people who didn't know about the 18s and the 130 disclaimer . I found the stinger forum around the 12th or 15th of January thank my lucky stars . I saw where people were complaining about the 18s on the all-wheel-drive's and how to speed was limited to 130 . Was waiting for a stnow white pearl to come in or the dealer to find one they found one up in Portland OR i must've asked 50 times to make sure it had 19's on it even got a copy of the window sticker. I flew up with the salesman to pick it up and drive it back to California to make sure it had 19 if I didn't we were going to fly right back home it did I'm ecstatic. I started building on the website when I first came out in the states end of November December anyway when I get the showroom floor with the stingers from Korea that you could look at sit in but they couldn't drive them I begin to realize that the salesman really didn't know whole lot about the car . We went to every dealer between Sacramento in the bay area when they were just on the showroom floor just so we could see some different colors and again I say none of the salesman knew too much about it. From the beginning of our quest to obtain a stinger to now . I would be interested to know if anyone built a stinger GT and ordered it with the LSD ( Limited slip differential ) You can't get it on the GT one that comes with the GT two but it is an option on the GT . The reason I ask this I firmly believe they just filled up a bunch of boats with stinger GT's and set them around the world . I don't believe the dealers even had an option of ordering what they wanted they just showed up on that portable parking lot and that's what they got .

Yep. I made sure I had the 19s also, but I didn't know about the speed limiting for 18s until after I took the car home. Luckily I wanted, without exception, the 19 summer Michelins. Live in the south. And yes ... dealers have no control on what trims types are delivered to them.
