Amen, brother. I agree 100%, maybe we should turn it into a class action suite. Break them bean counters from suckling eggs!!
I am totally interested in the idea of a class action lawsuit if I was informed by the dealership of the difference I sure would have picked what I paid for and wanted!! Segador please I hope you are serious about this its not the fact of how and where I go fast as some state on here we are "whining" we ARE NOT we simply want what we paid for plain and simple. If you buy an entertainment center that you like on the box and read all the fine print but yet it doesn't inform you that the shelves are not included then assemble it and realize it comes with no shelves what are you going to do ???? suck it up or go and complain and get the damn shelves in the picture,I think so. But hey some of us may just take it in the pooper and not say a word in fear , I myself am going back and getting my shelves period.

But how often were you going to use the shelves anyway and shelves are illegal outside of a racetrack so just stop talking about it :p

edit: Okay I got a disagree on that so I feel I should mention that tongue emoticon was to indicate I was being sarcastic.

It's the dealership that is at fault here, not Kia. Ask your attorney. I just did. All 3.3T Stingers are capable of 167 mph or greater. Both have speed limits in the computers based on tire limitations. No car manufacturer would risk a law suit for selling a car that goes faster than the tires sold with it and that are posted on the door jamb. The default tires on all GT Stingers are 19" tires. You only get the 18" tires IF you order them specifically. That is on the dealer, not on Kia. If the dealer orders or accepts cars with 18" tires, they should know what they are selling and you should know what you're buying. 19" wheels are the default UNLESS you force the optional 18" tires by checking a box.

mldavis2 I need a little help here what type of attorney should I contact about this my door jam says 18 inch but I DID NOT pick them it just came with them on the window sticker it says 19 inch standard then on the options side it says all season 18 inch tire package but I DID NOT request them it was already on it at the time of purchase and I WAS NOT informed of its impotence in the speed section. please help so I don't go into this looking like a moron. also for the people that think I'm whining I am not I just want what I paid for. so please refrain from the negative comments to thoughts of you that don't care about being totally ripped off.

I think you're beating a dead horse. Personally, I wouldn't waste money on hiring an attorney assuming you could find one to represent you on that. You will have to ask around and see if you can find one who will take the case. Again, it is the dealer who either did not know or did not inform you, or did not know that it mattered to you. There were hundreds of GT's sold in Canada with AWD and 18" wheels and no one complained.

I'm very serious, I hope everyone that think they got took, gets evolved, but if you are happy, I'm happy for you. Dont begrudge me my happiness though.

I read a lot of this post before I decided to break my silence lol. I have a GT AWD with 19” rims. Definitely sounds like some people here shelled out good money for a car they did no research on. I read the car is limited to 130 mph so I am surprised to hear someone hit 140 mph without a tune other than stock. I did tons of research because I was deciding between a few cars to purchase. I am going to try and find the literature about the speed limited to 130 mph and post it if possible. Also the fact that people are paying extra for small rims and tires and don’t know it is interesting. Did you not build a Stinger online first to learn about the cars options and pricing? It would have helped you learn a lot if you had done so. I’m not trying to sound harsh so I hope it isn’t coming across that way but everything I have spoken of that a few people have spoken of in this post I knew before I bought the Stinger and I still chose it over 240i BMW x drive and other high priced vehicles. However, speed limiter is resolved by introducing another tune to the car which I will most certainly be doing!

if the car in question was purchased off the showroom floor, then yes, the dealer was the one who set the car up, in which case, they misrepresented the car. but, like others on this forum (including myself) had posted, researching a new purchase instead of it being an impulse buy goes a long way in your satisfaction. i am not saying that the poster did not do their research, far from that, what i am saying is that if the dealer knowingly sold this car then they are at fault. and, if corporate hired a person who only offered a set of mats as recourse should be held responsible also. now, the next step is to see how many of us have a limited top speed on their cars and band together to have a class action lawsuit. that is the only way we as consumers can be heard. this pointing of fingers and b.s.'ing is getting us nowhere and causing animosity on a forum which has been created to bring enthusiasts together.
p.s.- i personally have witnessed my gt, with 19" wheels, no awd, do an indicated 146 with still more to go and with no mods done. i am also sure that there have to be at least a half dozen who have done so. some gt1's and some are gt'2, but the point being, we all bought this car because of its looks and its perceived performance. some have tested it and some haven't, and to each his/her own. i did not purchase this car for racing, i have quicker cars than that, the mrs liked it and figured why not get the most bang for the buck. if all we do is cruise it at 60 mph all day, i like knowing that if need be, i can do 145+.

Well put...top speed limitation never bother me because I know my cars never stay stock. So you hit 145+...now I wanna know my current top speed lol

mrs egging me on the whole way. like i said, the speedo, including the digital one in the center, indicated 146. that could just be an exagerated number that is generated from the computer, but, other than having a gps tracker with me.....crap, i never thought of that. and i have a gps viper tracker installed on the stinger. wonder if i can track it that way. or use my phone.

GPS tracker is a good idea. I have a separate heads up display I use in my cars...it’s portable. Can see what Speedo says and what a GPS and/or heads up displays at same time. Again, I sure hope I’m not coming across negatively...but this has me curious as to my current top speed. I thought I had to live with 130 mph until I upgraded ECU in some manner. I hit 100 mph in city limits in a hurry and was shocked! 130 mph comes in a hurry on highway im sure.

Your right, I must have not done my research. I bought my car in early fall of last year, I have 10,000 miles on it. I bought it , ( as i was told, by the dealer manager) before it was really available. Every thing I could get to read, everything I found on the internet (at the time). I asked the salesman, the sales manager, the store manager, and I still got the crap about the size of all season tires. The real give away was the tires that was on it were not speed rated over 140 mph, and I knew it. That's what brought on the questions of the speed. They told me that they believed it would still go 167 mph, had no reason to believe otherwise (bullshit). I tracked it all the way to the head of Pacific sales, a guy that lives sometimes in California and some times in Arizona. He didn't even know ( at the time) what was done. So when he found out it happened at the dock, he told me there was NOTHING HE WAS WILLING TO DO. (A REAL PIECE OF SHIT, THIS ONE!)so getting a lawyer is my only route, I've given up on kia doing the right thing..that's why I'm pissed I had a relationship with these people. Bought a new car just a year before this one, from these same people, that insisted nothing has been changed. So yes I'm disgusted, there is no honor in kia, the proof is in my garage.so when I get asked I tell everyone what kia did to me. I get asked a lot, because most people see this thing in the wild,(work, walmart) they act like they discovered it.. I dont miss a chance to tell some one what happen. I'm glad that your experience was nothing like mine, I hope you and your stinger have many happy years together. My experience was not the same as yours, and you wasnt there. I'm a Marine so I know fighting for peoples freedom means they have the right to say what they believe. So please do. Just like I know my car buying experience was different than yours. I know what happened to me was not right. It's just like it maybe legal to burn our flag, I know I would shoot some one in the face for doing it next to me. So be happy about your car deal, I'm happy for you, wish mine would have been the same, but it wasnt! When I started this post, it was to raise awareness, i did not want what happen to me, to happen to anyone else. I also want justice for all of us that did get screwed by kia. I get the idea, I'm not the only one it happened to. The fact that this thread has carried on this long is a statement of the facts. Over the weeks I've had to endure the ones that did not buy a fast car, to go fast. (Strange but ok, its America) then they say I was crazy, and I was going to jail ect... to that i say be careful brother, what are you doing that is crazy and could land you in jail. Then the people that insist I didn't research, or asked the right questions. Well I did, my fault is easy, I got the wrong answer, and didn't squash the deal, because I trusted people that had treated me right on other car purchases, much to my regret. Live and learn. I believed they would make it right no matter what it took. I was wrong, I believe first we try, then we trust, well I had bought cars there before, with no problems, and if there where they took care of it. So I trusted. No man is a island, at some point you have to trust somebody, but be ready you can be betrayed. My hope is that now people know. So many that followed this thread, has had much thoughtful insight. That will certainly help the next time.

I talked to an attorney who said he thought such a law suit would be frivolous -- sort of like you didn't read the fine print which was there, or because your dealer lied, or because you didn't know to ask. There is no corporate liability, though you may argue that your dealer is liable.

The other reason I'd never join such a group is because I want Kia to succeed with this great car, not stick them with negative publicity and possible expense to facilitate owners seeking to break the law. Those intending to use the Stinger on a track should know better than to order all-weather tires. Nearly all cars built today have speed limiters in their computers based on tire ratings, even Toyotas, Hondas and other grocery-haulers.

i agree with you davis, it is a frivolous lawsuit, except, when you as a manufacturer advertise that your car does 167 and don't put a disclaimer, except for the closed track/professional driver thing at the bottom, saying that it is only with the topmost option package, then yes, i would sue. but the main question is what do you want then? kia, and any major, and i stress major, car company should know this. tesla just got hit with a lawsuit about range and distance on their tesla 3 cars, and they aren't even out yet in mass yet. if they were a start up company, i would say yes, give them some time, but if you want to play with the big dogs and be taken seriously, you should honest up front and go from there. ooops, just fell off my soapbox.

On the other hand, if Kia gets a whiff that there's enough consumer dissatisfaction that negative publicity would end up costing them more than the ~$200 per Stinger they're saving by putting cheaper tires on the 18" rims, you can bet your bottom dollar that the 2019 MY Stingers with 18's will have W rated tires and the speed cap removed.

If it runs as good as mine 130mph comes in at about a mile, easy. Just a guess.

I never intend to race, the car , I bought for my enjoyment. Just think it is shame to have to sue some one to get them to di the right thing. Because other than the limiting speed and tires, I love the car. When I'm asked, about the car, i state the speed capability, it's a fact. I also will say i really like the car, and happy other wise.

145mph in my gt until I chicken out. But engine kept pulling until I turned into chicken.

Hate to add to this War and Peace post but I am totally confused on which Stingers are speed limited and which are not. I have a GT2 AWD that came 19' wheels and Michelin Sport tires. Door jam sticker says this also. So is my Stinger speed limited? Are all AWD Stingers speed limited or just the AWDs with the 18' all seasons. I've read differing "facts" on this in this post. Also is there any way to tell if your car is speed limited besides a road test? maybe a vin # lookup or something?
