EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

Compare your log with mine. You can probably see how much slower I build the boost.View attachment 79470
Also here is Lozic 1.5. You can see how much faster the boost creeps up comparing with JB4 without EWG.

The crazy thing is a slow JB4 launch like that is not even any slower than my lozic 1.5, big power coming from timing for sure.
here is mine for comparison. timings are horrible, and will hopefully be corrected once i add the meth kit next week

removed the pic, as there is no need to have a disaster posted

I thought with the BEF that the timing was more flat.
Also, I don’t have a parameter pre-boost, I have boost and boost2, so I am unsure what that difference is, are you logging with jb4?

this isn't the BEF one. this is something that someone was messing with.

Your 1st and 2nd gear have more boost while boost builds faster too. I guess EWG is 100 needed for me.
One question I forgot to ask, am I able to save the stock tune so I can restore if necessary?
Ok, maybe two questions , how long does it take to download a tune with the ek1?
Thanks

Yes, you can save the stock tune as it's the initial thing the EK1 saves.

only takes a few minutes. maybe 3 minutes to upload a new tune

Awesome, what I wanted to know
Thanks

So with the back end you still switch maps with the jb4 like always, it’s just fixing some limitations in the ECU?
I’m considering getting both a stage 2 and back end tunes, using the back end for DD, and the dedicated tune for the track.
Also, the stage 2 plus meth says 70% methanol needed, not easy to get straight meth here, VP speed sauce+ is 80/20 ethanol, would that work?
You are correct about the BEF, But even with the Tune, I go Map6 and fine tune boost for the track. If meth is hard to find, CPI will work with Stage II very well. You just have to have access to E-85. If you have it local, Sxth has a Stage II for E-50 that works fantastic, that's what I'm running now.
One thought though, you can daily just about any tune, no matter how aggressive. Heck, with the JB, you can actually reduce boost per RPM in Map6, then go the opposite direction when you hit the track.

I'm trying to get a basic understanding of this so forgive my lack of knowledge. Are you saying that with the Ek1 I can get a Back-End flash tune for the JB4 I'm currently running and go to whatever map I'm running and it kinda fine tunes it? Then, should I choose, I can purchase a Stage 2 tune with my current supporting mods and do map 6 to reduce/control boost aside from what the Sxth Stage 2 is doing? I think they have a 91/993 octane Stage 2 with 19-21 boost PSI that doesn't require meth.

Not exactly, what he is saying, is that you can use MAP6 on the JB4 to adjust the small details of the tune, meaning you want another half pound of boost here, half pound there, that kind of thing. The stage 2 tune that doesn't require meth, does require an e30 blend and CPI, which is the meth alternative.

I guess another option is to simply flash back your stock tune if you aren't going to the track for a while.
I might start with the BEF, its cheap enough, just to get a feel for how the ek1 works and such. With this, if I understand correctly, I just continue to use the jb4 maps as I would, but should be able to get better timing, but not necessarily much more power. After I feel comfortable with the platform, I might get like the stage 2 tune, and flash that strictly for use at the track, switching back to stock afterwards.
What do you guys think?

So I'll be in the market for a tuner here shortly and have always wanted to go jb4. However I was not familiar with sxth until hearing terry say to get the ek lite for back end programming. That being said do you guys run the EK Pro in tandem with JB4, or just the EK Pro?

Also where did you mount that tablet at?

And just for a cost analysis, JB4 with all the fixings is around 800 USD. Now the Sxth pro is a grand by itself, and I have to pay a few hundred extra for a tune, and unless they can do remote unlocking, but another ECU. I'm not knocking the company at all, I'm just wondering if it's worth pursuing over JB, any input is appreciated

So the BEF allows for significantly more power even if you run it with the JB4 on map0, with the timing increase. I don't think anyone has hit the dyno with it, but I would expect 360-380whp just from added timing. easy enough to support it on pump gas alone. then you can either stack the JB4 maps on top of it, or use MAP6 to custom add boost to fit your needs. If you are not planning on going for any records, it may not even be worth it for you to purchase the stage 2 tune, as you could get probably 80% of the performance of it from the BEF on its own.

I dont think you get 60-80 whp just With timing from stock like 14 degrees to 20. Maybe half of it.

My number range is taking into account the supporting mods he has as well, His BMS Intakes, JA scoops, BMS FMIC, MBRP SS exhaust & Ark Secondary, would allow for generally better flow and would certainly take advantage of the increased timing. On a otherwise stock car though I think you are probably right.

From what I know, the EK1 lite is only $600. Does everything the pro can, just not with the fancy interface.
And as far as where you put it, you don't leave it connected to the car, you plug it in (OBDII port) and use it to flash the tune, then disconnect it.
From what StingerbyAdoom above says, should be a decent bump by itself without a jb4, but if you then want to use jb4 to select other maps such as 1 or 2 (straight pump gas), 3 or 4 (E30), or map 7 for WMI, should be able to really go for it. As mentioned from AWDGT2, you can use map 6 with any tune to fine tune the boost by RPM range.

Bingo. I just spent about 10 minutes flashing a new version of their stage 2 tune and TCU tune earlier today. Going to the dyno later and seeing what happens.

Ahh so the extra 400 is for it being on a fancy tablet. Makes sense. So I could either pay for a tune from sxth and send it via the OBD port, or use in conjuction with JB4, utilize those maps and not pay sxth for a tune. Interesting.

If you buy a tune such as stage 2, do you get updates for free (or reduced cost) if they come out?
And good luck at the dyno! Please post the results.

Well you would still want the sxth Back end flash at least. if you dont, then you would have no point of buying the EK1 in the first place.
