Not exactly, what he is saying, is that you can use MAP6 on the JB4 to adjust the small details of the tune, meaning you want another half pound of boost here, half pound there, that kind of thing. The stage 2 tune that doesn't require meth, does require an e30 blend and CPI, which is the meth alternative.
I still don't understand when you say Stage 2 requires E30 or methanol. I see a Stage 2 with 91 or 93 oct only and supporting mods and another tune called Stage 2 Methanol which requires meth. Am I missing something or just not understanding?
Back end flash as in their tunes on the site correct? And it seems they have ECU and TCU tunes. So then essentially JB4 would be for logging and find tuning said tune?

So you're not missing anything, but the way stage 2 is done is a little confusing, as the stage 2 tune without running an e-mix or WMI will not run the tune to its full potential. you certainly could do it, but it would very much depend on the quality of your pump gas.
Ahh so the extra 400 is for it being on a fancy tablet. Makes sense. So I could either pay for a tune from sxth and send it via the OBD port, or use in conjuction with JB4, utilize those maps and not pay sxth for a tune. Interesting.
If you want to go with just the jb4, then that is fine. Howver, the jb4 can only do a few things, primarily it increases boost by intercepting the MAP sensors and sending a "fake" boost reading to the ECU, basically making it think the boost is lower than it actually is. It can also make minor adjustments to the mixture by tweaking the O2 sensor readings (if you have the fuel wires installed) and can also modify the duty cycle sent to the wastegates if you have the EWG wires installed.
It can do nothing for timing and launch control restrictions since the ECU controls that according to its internal maps.
The BEF can do all of these things, which when paired with a jb4, allows for different boost levels as well as optimizing timing and other parameters for a better overall system.
If you want to go full out, then you could get a dedicated tune (like from Lozic or Lap3 which require you to send your ECU to them for flashing), or you could go with a dedicated tune from SXTH and flash it yourself with an EK1, but a dedicated tune requires you to run the fuel it was designed for, whether it be 93, or E30 or meth. If you had a jb4 with such a tune, you could use map6 in the jb4 to tone down the boost if you didn't have the fuel available.

Logging and fine tuning for the normal Stage 1/2/2+, Logging and Controlling extra Boost/fine tuning for the BEF. Consider the BEF as a OEM+ Tune, just cleaning up what it should have been in the first place.

In the jb4tech forum, Terry also explains that once you get the EK1, you upload your stock tune from your ECU to get a bin file and then it gets patched (presumably to unlock it), then you can send this to Terry with $75 and a list of your mods and he will work with SXTH to get you a BEF tailored to your mods.
I currently have a question posted to Terry on the forum about what the difference is between the stock BEF they offer on sxthtuning.com ($250) and the service that Terry does.

Ok I think I got it. I can run Stage 2 tune on 93 but it will be a Stage 2 Lite. If I use the JB4 and mix some E30 in and refine boost i can make that Stage 2 Lite into like a Stage 2 Lite+. If I want full Stage 2 I'd need CPI or WMI?

If you are running the stage2 tune on pump gas alone, i would keep the JB4 in map 0 unless you decide you need to reduce boost, which you will figure out from your logs. The rest of what you said is correct, stage 2 does best on CPI or WMI.
depends on the power curve and the timing, and the engine would not grenade right away. eventually it would, but not after MANY, MANY WOT pulls without the proper fuel. Basically, you just have to keep an eye on your logs. Also, if you are not going WOT, then it doesnt matter what you are running. For daily driving or cruising around, any good tune should run like an oem tune, as its just not being asked for full power.
The only diffrence is Terry is still learning, whereas Nathan over at sxth already knows how to handle most situations. In time, terrys BEF will be just as good, and when it is, will probably have the same price as Sxths.

Ahh. Ok.
When getting the BEF from SXTH, then should I message Nathan directly with my mods so he can tailor it to those, rather than just the "stock" one posted?

This is an email I got from Nathan when asking about Stage 2 91/93 tune and JB4. He recommends disabling it and not tuning if you have EWG wires installed. Now I'm really confused.
