I have been enthusiastic about the Stinger since I first saw one, I tossed up about getting it or the Sorento but I always came back to the Stinger.I have been on this forum for 7 months, educating myself about the car and been enjoying the mods people have been doing.
Today was going to be special, I was picking up my Stinger from South Morang Kia, at least 1.5 hrs drive there and back. I was so excited yesterday and all this morning.
I should be feeling ecstatic and over the moon but I'm feeling far from it.
We got to the dealership and the manager Brian greets me, usual greetings takes place and he says " I have something to tell you, we only just noticed it at lunchtime , it's about the car " my heart started sinking right about then.He went on to say after treating it with paint protection they noticed part of the rubber in the sunroof had perished, " a bird has probably pecked it I was told " he went on to say they have contacted Kia headquarters and they have offered an apology and want to fix the rubber as soon as possible.
We then started checking the car over, noticed scratches and marks over it.The sale guy we had gone through came up and looked and said " f*ck, the marks are everywhere, just on the quiet I wouldn't take that car " then a service guy came out looking around the car, saying " the scratches are everywhere, it's compromised " Brian joined in and profusely apologised saying he was so concerned about the rubber he didn't check the car.
Obviously the rubber wasn't checked before it left the holding yard and wasn't checked or missed at dealership inspection.
I was so disappointed, I shed a couple of tears( I'm a woman, forgive me ) which made my hubby more pissed off because I was upset and it was an early birthday gift.
Brian suggested that they can " fix " the issues and that the car wasn't prepped at all prior to the paint protection and now it would have to be stripped and done properly. He indicated that the guy would not be having his job for long.
After getting good advise from a friend, we decided it wasn't acceptable, when you pay for a " brand new car " you expect it to be in " show room condition " if there are marks all over it , it is damaged and like second hand. We have asked for a new one and Brian is looking into it.
