I have been enthusiastic about the Stinger since I first saw one, I tossed up about getting it or the Sorento but I always came back to the Stinger.I have been on this forum for 7 months, educating myself about the car and been enjoying the mods people have been doing.
Today was going to be special, I was picking up my Stinger from South Morang Kia, at least 1.5 hrs drive there and back. I was so excited yesterday and all this morning.
I should be feeling ecstatic and over the moon but I'm feeling far from it.
We got to the dealership and the manager Brian greets me, usual greetings takes place and he says " I have something to tell you, we only just noticed it at lunchtime , it's about the car " my heart started sinking right about then.He went on to say after treating it with paint protection they noticed part of the rubber in the sunroof had perished, " a bird has probably pecked it I was told " he went on to say they have contacted Kia headquarters and they have offered an apology and want to fix the rubber as soon as possible.
We then started checking the car over, noticed scratches and marks over it.The sale guy we had gone through came up and looked and said " f*ck, the marks are everywhere, just on the quiet I wouldn't take that car " then a service guy came out looking around the car, saying " the scratches are everywhere, it's compromised " Brian joined in and profusely apologised saying he was so concerned about the rubber he didn't check the car.
Obviously the rubber wasn't checked before it left the holding yard and wasn't checked or missed at dealership inspection.
I was so disappointed, I shed a couple of tears( I'm a woman, forgive me ) which made my hubby more pissed off because I was upset and it was an early birthday gift.
Brian suggested that they can " fix " the issues and that the car wasn't prepped at all prior to the paint protection and now it would have to be stripped and done properly. He indicated that the guy would not be having his job for long.
After getting good advise from a friend, we decided it wasn't acceptable, when you pay for a " brand new car " you expect it to be in " show room condition " if there are marks all over it , it is damaged and like second hand. We have asked for a new one and Brian is looking into it.

Oh no! Feeling for you Flame. It’ll be hard to wait but stick to your guns and get a new one. Love your plate too. Can’t tell you how sorry I am for you.
Thanks Ollie

That is not a new car! How the hell can they miss that?
The paint protection was never put on I reckon and the car has been sitting in some yard at another dealership. They are pulling out the BS completely.
You poor girl, from all of us we feel your pain and I know it’s going to work out better for you . When you get your new car ordered from Korea it will be younger and you will get lots of sucking up from this idiot dealership. Have a stiff drink!

By the way the rubber looks dissolved not pecked.
On a good note the plates are A1.

A1 alright, had some help with that, thanks mate

That’s not good, pretty poor of the dealer to try & pass this off as a new car.
Good on you for walking away & after that effort I would go to another dealership as these guys do not deserve to have your business.
You’ve been waiting long enough now so a little longer won’t hurt, this one was not meant to be but over time good things come to those who wait.

Wow, I feel for you. What a disappointing welcome to a "new" Stinger. That's totally unacceptable and I think I'd be cancelling the entire deal unless said dealer came up with what you ordered with seven days.
There is absolutely no excuse for any vehicle being delivered in that condition.
If dealer can't find something suitable for you or refuses to cancel contract I would be straight on to KIA Australia and/or Fair Trading (VCAT in Vic ?).
I really hope it works out well for you.

That’s pretty shit, sorry to hear about it. I’d be pissed big time and the dealer and his stooges would have some choice words that would curl the toes of a wharfie. Anyway stick to your guns and keep at them so you get what you want. Be interesting if they go a new car or just fix the issues on that one considering they’ve already registered and insured it in your name. Did you check the odometer to make sure it hadn’t been driven and kick it over to make sure the bi-modal has been installed? Don’t leave anything to chance, they’ve shown they’re incompetent.

Get that vin number & make sure they don’t palm it back onto you.
They clearly rushed this car just to get the end of month sale, you could pay me to go back to that dealership & I would report the to KA for dodgy practices, if they think they could get away with that, what other crap are they hiding & may do in the future.

That sucks.....I feel bad for you. That’s totally unacceptable on the dealers part. I hope you end up with a brand new one.

Great colour choice btw :)

We hadn't even sat in it, we were so busy looking at the outside of it. It was in the showroom, if we could see the marks in that light it makes you wonder how bad it may have looked in daylight.
I also wonder if they were in such a hurry to get their end of month quota up, they wanted to sell it quickly and thus failed to inspect it properly.
Of course Brian was very apologetic and said " this is not to our standards and I 'm so disappointed too "

Good, do not settle for second best, remember what I told you before, while you have the money, you have the power.
