Disappointed is not the word

That's terrible :( I don't know if I'd trust that dealer, even if I thought it wasn't intentional. Intentional or not they obviously have major process issues and that's not good for a buyer :/

And they CAN reverse that sale if you want to walk away. Last year I bought a Cadenza. It was financed to get the rebate. When I went to pick up the car 5 days later and asked if they installed the remote start (that I paid for) they said no, we weren't aware when you bought the car but there is no remote start available from Kia or even after market for a Cadenza so we will refund your money for the remote start. I said nooooo, I don't want the car if it can't have a remote start. So they reversed the sale and the financing and I walked away. So they CAN do it.

Update: rang the dealership as no phone call from them this morning, Wouldn't you think " as valued customers " they may have contacted us after the almighty stuff up yesterday to see how we were and give us an idea what is happening.

So now we have gone from beyond disappointment to " very pissed off " , especially after I rang and asked for the sales guy we dealt with and the Manager, both were busy with customers but the receptionist advised I have left a message for both of them and you will be contacted very quickly.
That was at 4pm, they close at 6pm no call back. My hubby left a message with Kia head quarters so wants to chat to them about our experience.

Hubby contacted another dealership we bought the Optima from and told them what happened, they couldn't believe it, they advised they adhere to stringent inspections of all vehicles and a car is scrutinised three times before it is handed to a buyer.Although he hasn't seen our trade in he advised he feels they could match the deal we were suppose to get, right down to the accessories.
Hubby will contact the dealership tomorrow and advise " we have lost faith " as far as we are concerned we only saw the car yesterday so the contract surely goes from the time you visually see " your car ". Their whole inspection processes were obviously totally lacking and the detailers there incompetent. We are going to walk away .

Thank you everyone here for the great advise and support you have given me, I really appreciate all your posts and it lifts my spirit to acknowledge what a great Stinger community we have.:)

Glad you’re walking , they deserve it. How much deposit did you put down? There’s a chance you won’t get that back but if still be asking them to refund it.

Don't let them keep the deposit. They failed to deliver an appropriate car, that is on them, not you. Australian consumer law is on your side.

We put down $1,000, hubby will try and get it back as well as my plates, he's going there tomorrow

You will get your money they did not supply the goods.
You always have us to support you that's what the community is about. A longer wait for a great car means a bigger smile.

Deposit will depend how much they want to push the contract. Technically they supplied the car in working order, the issues are cosmetic. Not saying it’s ideal but that’s what they’ll argue. As for the plates, they’re yours, they’re registered in your name, you’ll just have to go to VicRoads and get them changed to whatever replacement car you get from the other dealer. Also get the insurance details (Green slip if they do that in Vic) they did for you because you’ll have to let the insurance company know you’re changing it to another vehicle. Despite what others are saying on here it may not be that simple depending on if they want to play hardball with you. Biggest thing is they don’t like negative publicity so use that within reason.

Yep, the other dealership advised they may make it hard for us but if we stick to our guns it should be ok, we'll see .

:(:( Flame, you could agree to keep the car if everything is fixed, only if they'll let you drive another Stinger till yours is perfect. That way you'll know if they mean business. And that would be a lot easier than bailing altogether.

Legally and logically you guys are probably right but for me this car is now tainted. Even if the defects are made right eventually, that first rush of euphoria you feel when you hop into your perfect, shiny, new car is gone; never to return. If I’m buying a new car I want a new car not an ugly duckling that has been prettied up. I know psychological considerations won’t influence the legal situation but that’s how I would feel about it.

I completely understand where you are coming from and we did consider this path but also questioned if they haven't do the proper inspections right at the beginning and the detailer stuff it up, how do we trust them to do a good job fixing it ? as Ollie stated that excitement you feel when you see your nice, new shiny car just won't be there for us, even if they stick a ribbon on it. And at this point I feel like telling them to stick the ribbon where the sun don't shine ;)

I'm sure they get the vibe loud and clear. May you be successful in getting out of this with your deposit without a yooge fight. And then find your Stinger at a worthy dealership. You are a proven "waiter". Patience is supposed to be good for the soul. :P

I know what you mean mate, when I got mine it had heaps of what looked like water stains on the dark chrome that wouldn’t wipe off. Turns out they hadn’t cleaned the chrome off properly before applying the protektiv paint protection and sealed the existing water marks under it. Because I picked up on a Friday I had an entire weekend of people checking out my new car and having to explain it had to go back on Monday to have the protektiv stripped, chrome cleaned, and protektiv reapplied. They also missed good sections of the interior which stood out as the protektiv makes the leather slightly darker so I had two tone black leather. Got it fixed but it took the shine off the experience. I’ve had to get the interior done twice so far.

The problem from my perspective is that the paint is damaged - the clearcoat has marks in it which can only be removed by buffing them out - which thins the paint. Kia's paint isn't renowned for being the thickest or best applied to start with, so you're already up against it, and the amount of work required to correct this damage is only going to thin the paint further.

Thus, the car is compromised. The dealer has no leg to stand on - and that's before you consider the hack-job someone's done on the rubber, and the deceit shown by the dealer.

2nd Update : Good news, my hubby rang Brian this morning, stating not happy with the whole situation, Brain asked to speak with him to work it out. Hubby went around after work and phoned me saying they are very apologetic, he put his phone on loud speaker and Brain also apologised to me, saying we don't want any " bad blood " between us and will give us our full refund. The sale guy came up to Jason apparently quite shattered about the fact we were walking but he understands why. When they took off my plates the person who put them on damaged the front bumper too.

We have now got an appointment with another dealership next week. :) I feel very relieved, I was hoping it wasn't going to get messy.

Great news, the number plate issue just vindicates the reason you are walking away, I hope you land a great deal & the delivery is impeccable.

Thanks Stinger GT SS, the dealership we are going to see know exactly what has happened so I'm sure the outcome will be very different :)
