I had the same feeling. It is a 30 minute or less swap but I wish they would have stated that the other collar would be needed instead of "minor adjustments needed".

Yeah especially if what you're saying is true about the uneven fit if you just dremel the bottom a bit.

It may just be me but to open the collar up so that it fit, I still didn't like the way it would sit on the shift boot. I felt like it looked like Felonious Gru from Despicable Me. wider shifter, tiny waist/bottom.

Just finished installing the new shifter. One thing that I'd do differently next time is to not trim the boot at the top. I found that you could work it up pretty well but because I trimmed some, the stock boot is very tight in manual mode when downshifting. Still works well just an observation. I'd also suggest double sided tape instead of worrying about hot glue. you can put it around the inside collar, snip the corners of the boot so that it folds into the collar, then the pressure from the knob seating keeps the boot perfectly in place and clean.

Ok so just got my N dct shift knob is the collar on the shift boot the same as the N line one and will it work?
