I wish i had more help for you, sorry. Only other thing would be is that the changed the configuration. Id need to pull mine off and look at it. I can tomorrow if you want? Wont be able till the afternoon though. 2pm or so.
Just thought of this too. Was your N button closed prior to your first attempt at install? I dont remember with my first install, but this is staight out of a new box. Never been opened till i went to check the pin for you. Maybe it needs to be pushed in as you install?

Yes N shifter button was depressed, doesn’t really move until solenoid or pressure is pushed against that pin inside the shifter.
I worked with it some more last night. I slightly sanded down the U shape points on the solenoid 1-2mm not changing the stock position height where pin rests. Helped a ton however it still sometimes won’t clear the resistance needed to not trigger the park sensor. I then realized if I assist ever so slightly with my finger on the button to help pull the button to the out position. No more issues.
Leading me to believe that it maybe a faulty part in the N knob. Went back to stock no issues, then back to N and will see if anything improves.
I went thru this thread completely last night just to if i missed something. The N may not be seated completely, the lock ring not engaged. I know you said you pushed down on it but did it fully click in? Does the N come off easy when you switch? Another user had the same issue and pulled the lock ring out, but the knob will come off at random he said. Pretty sure when i installed mine i put some force on it to get it to seat.
I definitely dont want to tell you something to do and it mess your car up.
But from what you've saying it seems its not seated completely. Especially if you help the button and its fine.
Easy install but I had the same problem and I found out why the pen inside of the shifter sits at the opposite angle so I'm wondering if I file down the top of the plastic piece on the shifter in the car that would work? That's not non- reversible too then no going back.
And I didn't cut the stock boot. I just slid the other piece inside of it stretched it a little bit then use contact cement to glue it in place.
All right, I went back and filed just a little bit off of the top of the plastic piece on the shifter itself and that's solved the problem

I got lucky i guess. I had no issues with mine at all. Been a bit since i installed mine. I didn't cut the boot either. Just a little push and everything clicked right in. At least there have been a few with this issue so people dont feel like they have jacked something up.
Your post is definitely good info for others. Nice!

I looked into filing/sanding down the plastic solenoid/rod piece on the top of the shifter as well. I think if you sand it down to where the rod sits both shifters would still work.
How much did you take off?
Could you try stock shifter and see if it still works?

I filed it down to where the round groove was almost flush. And yes the stock shifter still works. Just sits on there instead of sitting in the grove. Definitely locked in with the pins on the side of the shifter. I gave it a small smack to seat it properly. Really happy with the upgrade. Never did like the T handle.

If you don’t mind me asking where did you buy your N shifter?
I’m starting to wonder if they (Hyundai) modified the design?
I had this shifter on my other Stinger swapped it over no issue. This time around only option to modify the plastic rod. Crazy to think they’d change but maybe.
Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one!? Glad you got it to work looks great. I agree completely much improved over T shifter.
