Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Your logs look really, really good. Can you elaborate on weird hesitation?
On the top of the rpm band, like the last 500-1krpm the tachometer stops moving smoothly the pedal feels like it’s kicking back slightly and the car does the same. I don’t have exhaust so there’s no audible feedback. It almost feels similar to hitting a rev limiter.

@Terry@BMS any ideas? It wasn’t doing it before I updated to v8 firmware. Only other difference I can think of.

Sorry wasn’t talking about the FUD 7 “linear throttle mapping” setting as that does help slightly. We were thinking the other v6 update “less throttle closer during shifts” may be a factor. Could that adjustment to throttle closure relate to, or effect WGDC control?

None of the change should have any effect on WGDC. Capture back to back logs on say v4 and v8 showing the issue and email those in, and I'll look around in the tuning for possible causes of the difference.

Log looks perfect so I can't see here whatever is you're feeling behind the wheel. Boost is tapered at high RPM before the shift to keep turbine speed down.

Your wastegates are probably physically adjusted differently than other cars. Either too tight or too loose. Since we don't have direct wastegate control active yet with the Stinger JB4 there isn't much else we can do for you on that front at the moment. Adding in the IAT wire may change the equation and I'd be happy to send you one if you want to try that.
Received the IAT wire today - super fast postage thank you!
Ok so I've found how to install it (position #9 on JB4, tap attached to #2 wire on JB4 MAP harness), but are there any settings in the software that you want me to change after installation?

Yes settings are required to enable it. Email me and we can discuss.

0% chance you are 500 whp. I'd guess ~430.
I walked all over stock scat packs with my 18 Mustang GT. Those cars only post mid 12’s with very good traction like a drag strip or running a tire. The truth is they are very heavy for a pony car and struggle in the real world with average drivers. I do like the auto transmission. That car is in desperate need of a ground up ovehaul, but I doubt it ever happens. They would have a winner with their current power trains and a slightly smaller car with new engineering advancements used to lower the weight around 300-400 lbs. Do this and I’m headed for a test drive. As it is now I didn’t even blink passing the Dodge dealership on the way to get my Stinger. This car gets compliments everywhere I go, it’s crazy.

Interesting. You must have some mad driving skills. :) I replaced my 2015 Mustang GT with the 2017 ScatPack. I found them to have almost identical acceleration, but now I actually have a usable back seat and pretty large trunk. I do miss the coyote 5.0L though.

**shrug**

I do like the design of the Stinger. If I can figure out how to reliably get the power that I want, it'll be a no brainer to buy one.

Cheers!

The 2018 Mustang is significantly faster than previous years.

In my lengthy car search I drove a 2018 Mustang GT PP1 and a 2019 Challenger Scat Pack Widebody several times and I still chose the Kia... Even though I have the Ford X-Plan and Dodge Affiliate available, and the local dealer will beat them...

I keep reading of motor issues with the 2018 mustang and people breaking the 3rd gear shift fork. It’s to bad there a nice looking car.

Yep. Someone lead me to the promised land of 600-700hp. What tuner in the mid-Atlantic region wants to tackle that. Happy to upgrade the turbos.

Cheers!
You talking about whp or just hp? Honestly you can get that on your scat pack easy by just putting a supercharger. It will cost you a lot less money as well. If that is you goal this is probably not the right car for that kind of horsepower. Definitely will need bigger turbos plus a lot more mods/money. No one really knows the power limits of the engine, transmission and drivetrain yet.

Does anyone know if it's a bad idea to use 91 octane on Map 2? I have the 2.0L model and have been using Map 1 so far for couple days without a problem (loving the extra boost!). I'd like to try Map 2 and log, but it's hard to find 93 octane in California.

Why does everyone assume that money is an obstacle for everyone modifying their car?

I've been running Map 2 with 91 for the last few weeks. I have fuel wires and have had no problems. Did an E85 mix as well and ran Map 3 for a little bit. I would say go for it, log it, and if you have any issues, post it on the N54 forum @Terry@BMS is super responsive.

Thank you, Eddie. Do you think not having fuel wires in this case is a disadvantage and potentially dangerous at all? I only have the JB4 and the bluetooth kit.

For higher maps and/or E85 use I'd strongly suggest the fuel wires. The factory air/fuel targets are just too rich.

Thank you for your response Terry.

So would you say Map 2 on 91 octane is unsafe? And would it be safe, then, to use Map 2 on 91 octane with the fuel wires? I'm trying to see what I can play with right at this time.

Thanks again!
