So! It looks like Burger Motorsports, pretty much famous for their JB tunes for BMWs and more - is working on a tune for the Kia Stinger - thanks to @Kiacruzer bringing his already modified Stinger to their shop. Here's what they had to say:

This is very good and interesting news...

Cool good to see another tuner working on things.

Can we talk about someone running water meth injection on a non tuned car though?

Good to hear, I had used JB3 in my previous 335i and 135i way back when. Good solid name brand.

A vendor relayed bad information from the LAP3 makers regarding the need for upgraded spark plugs. 4 or 5 people ended up having spark plugs/coil damage requiring Kia techs to repair the car.

I can understand your concern. But are you at all familiar with Burger Tuning and how renowned they are in the tuning community? I mean - even I've used their tunes in the past...

I'm not familiar with them, actually.

I asked for more information on another forum but didn't get much back. I also checked out their website and notice they provide chips and other goodies for multiple different vehicles. And most of their chips are cheaper than LAP3.

But their chip is the same basic principle as other piggyback tunes, right?

Did the 4 or 5 people installed the recommended plugs? If so what plugs did they install? I’m getting ready to install the LAP3 on my 3.3TT. There is some talk about plug and coil issues but nobody has actually said that they have changed their plugs as recommended. I bought the recommended plugs and have not yet installed. Not have I put the module on the car. But have it.

Yup, they are piggybacks but with significantly more adjustability and mapping than the LAP3. Of course, they also require more mods to the car to maximize the maps.

BMS is popular and well regarded in the BMW community. I ran several JB variants (jb+ to JB4) with good results. Recommend searching in the bimmer forums for some reviews. I expect good things from Terry and his folks for the Stinger.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure if anyone upgraded the plugs and reinstalled the chip.

I *think* (don't quote me on this) LAP3 told the vendor that upgrading the plugs will limit the chances of damage being done to the car.

I'm not sure if anyone has tried it out yet.

I've spent a couple of years researching and discussing the JB+ and JB4 on various BMW forums and am very comfortable with the installation process, the customer support, and their community support. Burger Tuning is what I would use. LAP3 is fine - it's just very early on for the Stinger. It's not really all that unusual for a new tuning option to be seeing some issues with a new car.

But let's please keep this discussion focused on the JB4...

The different plugs are recommended. 3.3TT is recommended that HKS-45iL plugs be used. 2.0t HKS-45xL

They only just began testing so I'm not too sure. It may be a while...
