Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

The VALET map may be driving it to stay in low boost mode until restarted. I'll have to look in to that.

I just hope that mode is the only issue I’ll keep you posted. That mode is supposed to run 6psi I think and my car did for a while then dropped to 0. I wonder if the factory ECU is going into a safe mode of 0 psi.

On the n54 forum a few people said they got zero boost until restarting the car after doing WOT runs. What condition were you in right before the zero boost?

I was testing out the low boost mode doing wot. Not crazy high rpm but it was wot. Was that on the low boost mode as well?

Thanks so it looks like there’s a firmware that addresses this.... my jb4 is new should it not have that fix loaded on already? My app says rev 3.6 settings does that mean I can update? Is it easy to update the firmware I tried doing it but it just sends me to a page.

Thanks

Same as the others.

Check out this thread.

Kia & Hyundai JB4 - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion

I think the issues/solutions were posted in August (probably around page 20 or so).

*Edit. Check page 18 and go from there.[/QUOTE

I'm not sure. I don't know how to do the update over BT. I think Terry posted a how to vid for it though.

The page has the firmware. Theres a video on the n54 site showing how to update the firmware. Pretty easy to do.

Thanks I just can’t find the area where the firmware is I clicked on the Kia area but did not see it. I’ll havw to keep digging. My stinger is getting plugs done now.

Key on engine off, connect to jb4, go to settings, firmware update, it will take you straight to the site. Click the firmware applicable for you and wait for it to install.

That’s the issue I’m having I can not find the firmware when it takes me to that site. I go into
The Kia section but I do not see a firmware download there.

You dont see this on the first page? It's a .hex fileScreenshot_20180921-103329_Samsung Internet.webp

So I tried updating software and it kept failing. I canceled and the app said the setting are missing. Tried starting my car and it was almost not running boost gauge showed 20psi. I had to turn off the car and unplug everything out and now it’s running fine but I can’t do an update and now I’m missing all my settings.

How many times have you tried? And your following the introductions to the T? Is your car on or off when you do it?

I was using the wifi when I updated mine. I think in the video stated if it fails you have to keep trying. Maybe redownload the app?

I got the car home and rehooked it up and I’ll try again. Car was off ignition on

Edit it worked this time the world is good again

I’m going to stick with make one as I might be a bit lean low down. Here’s a pull in 3rd on map 1. I have downpipes and k&n filters maybe that is the cause.
Is it hard to make the car run a bit richer?

Edit did another run with full tank of 94 on map one and when I floored it and it geared down still getting detonation. I’m at sea level and it’s 14 today. I guess I’m going to have to figure out how to send in some logs to fix up the tune. Or maybe not run the fuel wires.

Is that fuel bias sections does that apply to map 1 and map 2? Having all these setting in this thing is awesome but it’s going to take a while to learn it all. I put the fuel bias back to all 0 Andy went for another drive.
The first picture is stock boost the the 2nd is map1. I did not hear any detonation this time.

whoa Adam....pump the brakes....lol what you are getting is the limp mode im thinking...but tune 4? if the jb4 goes into limp mode you have restart and everything is fine...it happens to some on certain maps...but what you need to do is go over to n54tech.com and go to the tune thread for kias...Terry has got it all sorted out...and he sees posts over there much faster than here....but if my ol mind is half azz werkin tune 4 (map4) is valet mode..where everything is cut back so the parking lot jockey wont crash and burn your ride.....you just installed your jb4 so you oughta be werkin on map2 or 3.....pump the brakes ! no your JB4 is just fine lol :) Wash
oh wait.....you are wanting to test map4 valet mode? is that it?....go look at what map4 does :)

map 1 doesnt even use the fuel bias...you should be perfect on that map
please post your stuff over at n54 ...it will get a response very fast from Terry
