Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Log looks clean but log v8 firmware next so we see timing in cyl 2-6. That is normally a better indicator of how octane is looking for the boost levels. :)

New and improved, now with firmware 8 and IGN 2-6 data. Just a little roll on again :)

I have a question about "fail safe". If I mix 91 octane + E85 to aim for ~E30, then I could run map 3? Or 5? Now, what if someone else drives the car and needs to fill up and doesn't know how to mix E30 - can I pre-emptively go back to map 1 / map 0? Will that be safe enough on E30, but lose some performance?

Basically, if the wife needs the car and may need to fill up, can I take care of it ahead of time?

Even though I'm no expert, it looks like a very neat log to me.

my concern was the ign2-6 going to 0, but I was assuming that was during a shift. Wanted to make sure I was correct.

Looks good but really short run. :)
Indeed. Welcome to Seattle, land of the worst drivers in the country. One subspecies, the "I think I'll just drift into the left lane and match speeds with this Kenworth...53 is plenty fast" speed limit enforcer. Can't throw a rock without hitting several.

Also, how accurate is the GPS readings for the 0-60? I didn't even know they existed until I recently did a log of my map8 and it showed it. Does it track 1/4 as well?

Just went through an automated car wash. Opened up my hood to clean up my engine bay a bit and discovered this. I am going to assume that it's this wet and soapy everytime I go through one. Should I be worried? Is there a weather stripping loose?

so question I installed JB4 and data cable(not Bluetooth) and car ran fine for a few days, however today yesterday as I'm leaving work car started to flux between 1100-1500 rpm then died and after that would fire up and only go to 400rpm and die immediately. the firmware wont connect to the JB4 it says connection failed. check engine code (P0699-000) SENSOR REFERENCE VOLTAGE C CIRCUIT HIGH. so I disconnected it and code is gone and car runs like normal again, should I reinstall and attempt to update firmware?

Looks like wheel or trans spin there on RPM jumping up post shift at higher RPM. I'd use the IAT wire to spoof up IAT so the ECU is running a higher boost target in that area. A setting of 6cyl=30 should do it.

The IAT wire is 1/2 of a fuel wire kit, a wire with a 1k resistor and posi-tap, that attaches to the JB4 brown MAP connector, allowing the JB4 to manipulate how the ECU reads intake temperatures. In this case you'd use that wire and related settings to make IAT higher and thus increase the ECU's boost target, and the trans holding power.

Alternatively just lower the boost target by lowering the map8 boost additive as needed for clean runs.

Hi Terry
I just received my IAT wires and I think I can figure out how to connect it checking old posts and images. Do I have to change any option in the app to enable/disable it?

Terry,
Sorry if you are very busy, but is it possible to get a very quick answer?
I would like to know what are the "related settings" before adding this wire. I could not find anything using google.

For the IAT wire just email me for info on the setup.

I've actually turned off my IAT wire. I was getting some weird boost fluctuations and the car just didnt feel as clean through the RPM range. Turned them off and it felt much more solid. I think it's probably a tad slower because I'm pushing ~2 less peak boost, but the boost steadiness is much better and it pulls more consistent.

Any thoughts on it Terry?

The IAT wire allows spoofing of IATs higher than ambient, lower than ambient, and anywhere in between. What it does depends on the specific setting and what we're trying to accomplish on the data side with it.

Can I run Map 3 on 93 Octane, or does it have to be e30?

Been running map 3 on maybe 94-95, that seems fine. Wouldn't mind the Official Word, tho

Terry, I sometimes get IAT's lower than ambient with the WMI. Will the IAT make any difference or help me?

Terry has answered this many times before and the guidelines are listed on the first page of the N54 Kia/Hyundai page here.Kia & Hyundai JB4 - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion
Also there is a great technical breakdown by someone that tried different octanes at each map level to see what worked best. I’m not sure what page it’s on but here is a screenshot of the info which includes BMSs guide at the top too.:thumbup:974ECC55-E9AB-4B39-8F63-41A5E1CED59C.webpBottom line, you need about 96 octane to run map3 at full timing advance. Anything lower will have the ECU pull timing to protect from pre-detonation, and it won’t feel nearly as powerful.

Hope that helps and happy tuning!:D

(facepalm ) It does, and your post reminded me of why I specifically bought some Boostane (and a convenient funnel and small fuel bottle...) to meet that 96 or better requirement - I'm pretty sure i did read that previously. Must be the CRS Syndrome taking hold again. Thanks!
