• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

Anyone else had an issue lately where the car no longer reads text messages when connected via Bluetooth? Mine was working fine, it would read my incoming text and display them on the infotainment unit. Now on the messages section it just says connected to iPhone, but won’t read anything. It also doesn’t give the alert for incoming message like it did before. Nothing in the car settings has been changed, or the phone settings. Not sure what the problem is. It makes and receives voice calls over Bluetooth fine.
It doesn't surprise me at all I find the whole system hit and miss.

I always thought it had to be connected to Apple CarPlay via USB for the message function to work. I don’t think mine has ever worked over Bluetooth. I don’t send or receive many text messages though.

No it could do both, one of the system you allowed it to happen, problem is it’s been working since the last update on the car and now just stopped for no reason. I’ve update my iOS a few times but that’s never had an effect on it before. Not sure what the problem is

Maybe it was the last iPhone update, remove your phone from the system & then re-pair it to the car to see if that fixes it.

If it was the iPhone update it was at least the one before last. I updated on Christmas Day but it had stopped working before that. I’ll try the unpair repair thing and see if it works next time I’m in the car

Super jealous that would be a great cruise in the Stinger.

So disconnected everything, deleted the phone from the car memory, set it all up again, worked fine for about 3 messages then seemed to stop again. Tried it again today when I got in the car without doing setup again, not working. Got me buggered what’s wrong with it, it was working fine before. Not a big thing but just annoying given it worked perfectly

Well that’s got me stumped, you might need a visit to the dealer for a software reset/upgrade.

Followed another silver Stinger from Daylesford almost back to Trentham today, sort of an anonymous mini cruise. Was it a member here?

Thought better of taking the Stinger out today, opted for the i30 down to Penrith Westfields. Third floor under cover parking. Walking out to the car was the hottest temperature I've ever felt. I got in the car after 2 hours of shopping and this is what I was greeted with.20191231_143640.webp

Holy crap Batman.

Hi Everyone,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope everyone has been well.

It's been a while since I have been on here and posted something. Sorry to have been invisible as work has been out of control.

Well, the Red Stinger has almost clocked up 7,000 km's since the first week of September. A few country trips for work has certainly put the Km's on the beast. It's still purring along nice and smooth. A few chips in the paintwork and windscreen are a downer but we can't wrap our cars in cotton wool. Sorry to hear about Sonic's dent Angel.

Just some updates from the last couple of months.

I was sitting in a waiting room for an appointment in Williamstown a while ago, with the Stinger parked out the front. A couple walked past it and then I saw the male do a moonwalk back to check out the Stinger. I don't think he could believe that it was a Kia.

I have had many positive comments about the car from people where I park before going for my weekend runs.

Here's a funny one. While in Shepparton for work, I had to go to Coles to pick up some supplies. as I was walking back to the car, I noticed from a distance, a family taking a photo in front of the Car. They were all apologetic when I turned up. No issue from my end.

I have noticed a few more Stingers out and about. Here are a couple of photos of a grey one and a white one where I go for a run. More joining the hive.

Angel, I might be able to make it for the Great Ocean Road drive Saturday week. Once I know what's going on with work when I get back next Monday, I'll be able to sort myself out. Hope you don't mind me inviting myself even though you had an open invitation. Hopefully there are no issues with the minor bush fires they have some distance from there.

Mine is the same. Worked when I first got the car, and has displayed some texts at random times, but most of the time Zip.
