• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

Took Sonic in for her 10,000 service this morning, all good except they suggested a front wheel alignment as they are out a bit ( from what Iv'e read, they are like that from factory ? ) as she was there asked them to turn the wireless charging on because I flipped over that bit in the 500 page manual.
One of the young sale guys gave me a lift home as the courtesy van was headed in the wrong direction to my home at the time.It was nice chatting to him as he is a car enthusiast, more " Commodores " and likes to do mods.We spoke about mods and he said " Intakes are fine and tuning, any mods ok as long as they don't interfere with the car's Hard Drive ".He showed me a pic on his phone of a friend's Stinger, a Black one with the bonnet up and the cool air intakes he had installed as well as painting the engine cover gloss black and silver, looked good.

So when are you getting your new air intakes.

Set the fuel warning light off for only the second time in 18 months since I’ve had the car. Pushed it a bit before I got fuel. Needle was well and truly on the E by the time I got some juice in her. Interestingly the 60L tank too over 60L of fuel. Anyway it’s the lowest I’ve ever let it run, and don’t make a habit of it.

‘Funny you mention this being as I realized the other day that I e never seen the fuel light. Most cars I’ve owned recently have had it turn on at 80km till empty, but not the Stinger.

At $648.95 it would want to be damn good and self fitting! Seems a lot to pay for big red KIA logo on the front.

‘I want to know if it is made to fit and what it’s inner lining is like.

I can see that purse is going to open shortly. We'll have to compare notes. The Finance minister has approved my requests the meeting went way better than I thought , i feel a bit greedy. But then again that's what she has to expect marrying a trophy husband.:laugh::rofl::laugh::rofl::laugh:......

IIRC it comes on at 30km.

Well, I reported to my Finance Manager and we have to put the credit card on hold because we are off on an excursion this long weekend, staying at " Crown " in Melbourne with some friends overnight to check out the Chinese New Year Celebrations

You were lucky to get a room at Crown this time of year. Suggest you try Yum Cha at Lucky Chan, say "hi" to Albert for me :)

A good night at the Crown might result in New Stinger mod funs:)?

Parked in my strategic spot at the shops this arvo and noticed a nice Black Audi with a V6T badge on the right driver side front end.
Did my shopping came back and was approached by a bloke ( in his early- mid fifties ) and his wife.
He asked " how are you finding the Stinger ? " told him I loved the car and we've had no issues with any of our Kia's for the last 7 years of getting into the brand. He has been following them since they first came out but wanted to wait and is looking at getting one this year. He said he will keep hold of his Audi, don't know the exact model it was, he said only 500 made of it and it is " Supercharged ". He was all booked in to take an Aurora Black GT for a test drive here in Geelong and arranged with manager to take it out by himself but on the day, the manager was absent and the sales people wouldn't let him take it out by himself, he said one guy asked " why ? do you intend to hoon around in it ? " so he walked away and is now looking to Melbourne.
He said his brother in law has bought a Stinger and another family member a Cerato. He's also checks out the Kia GT FBG and gets info from there and his wife seemed really interested in future cruises.

Unfortunately he probably won't get Audi type service or hospitality . I couldn't get a test drive, I bought site unseen. There were no responses to my request for a test drive I applied twice on the internet and rang and booked. When I insisted they cancelled a week later good old Heartland Kia Blacktown.

Back in October 2017, I was able to test drive a Ceramic Grey Stinger GT, but the test drive wasn't too long, the dealership already had their first Deep Chroma Blue, but was already SOLD, luckily I was able to see it, on the day, and hours before the customer was too pick it up, I also remember while I was looking at it, the salesman realised they hadn't tinted the windows for him with just a few hours till pick-up, I don't know what happened with that, so I was lucky to see Deep Chroma Blue in person.:)

Phil Gilbert in Five Dock were quite happy to let me test drive one (Apr 2019). Sorry, that doesn't help those in the deep south.

Saw a yellow Stinger today Thought they were recalled in Australia.. maybe a respray.

I was wondering if anyone that has replaced their front badge could tell me if the process was easy enough.. and any tips

Leave the nose of the car in the sun on a hot day for a couple of hours, then gently & methodically work under the Kia badge with fishing line until it becomes free, there are pins under there so you have to work around, taking time is the key. I then gently removed remaining adhesive with my fingers, then wiped clean with a damp cloth...worked for me.

The new “E” badge comes with 3 pins but we have 2 holes only do you will have to grind off the bottom one where we don’t have a hole for it.
The glue can be horrific to come off and I used a hair dryer and wedges to get under it but it tough....2 of us got onto it and it was no picnic.
Being a brand new car in my case, the paint was very soft and although we didn’t hole it or scratch it badly, a friend of mine who is an elite detailer high buffed and polished out the original badge that had made a surround in the paint.

All good but I had a customer in a fortnight ago who wrecked his whole rear panel with a heat gun and not only had to replace the whole section but had to have it painted too.
Just be very careful and take your time.

^^^^
I would never use a heat gun. Fishing line, wedges and mild heat is usually suffice.

I used a heat gun and it was fine. As long as you turn down the heat, and be patient. That’s the key. Don’t rush it. I found that a couple of credit cards worked well once you got started. Not actual credit cards as the raised letters and numbers get in the way, but a flat card. The back was easier than the front, maybe because there was only 2 pins?? The glue is pretty tough but again patience and it will come off.
