• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

I’m booked in for 10k service next Friday. I told them today when I booked it that I wanted it done and was aware of the service bulletin. The girl I spoke to didn’t really say anything other than she’d make a note of it on the booking.
I had the LSD diff oil changed but make sure the dealership has the diff oil in stock as I had to wait 2 weeks for them to get enough oil ordered in to do the work. The girl who took my booking said that they had everything they needed for the service but when I arrived the Service Manager was apologetic that the LSD diff oil hadn't arrived in full.

The change in diff oil makes a big different with the diff oil replaced as in less twitchy at the back, more grip in the wet, and more compliant chassis out of corners.

Before the diff oil; the car almost faced back the way I entered a roundabout in the rain going 30 km/h!
The car was unstable at the rear but I thought this was normal as the dealer test drive car was same.
Heart stopping but greatful that the car came back to stop without hitting anyone.

The reason I gave to the dealership was that I was losing grip at the rear of the vehicle in places where the car should have grip. The Service Manager said that he'd look for any TSBs, found the one for the LSD diff oil change, and suggested I book in for a changeover.

My dealer said the oil would only be replaced if there was a "whining" noise coming from the diff.

So I just got a call from NRMA with regards to new car replacement insurance and he recommended putting agreed value as lowest because they will honour a new car within first 2 years of first rego date of the car if you are the first owner. If they can't get me a 2021 model stinger if I write it off in 2 years then they will look at demos going down a year until they can find one. Sounds pretty good to me.
They never offered that or even suggested it when I insured mine.

It does seem unusual but Hemz stated they confirmed it so good deal.

Does anyone on here have a copy of the service bulletin relating to the diff oil replacement, or have they had it done and was there any issues?

The girl I spoke to didn’t really say anything other than she’d make a note of it on the booking. I had spoken to someone else at the dealership before when the tow bar recall was issued and was told they’d only do it if there was an issue. I’m just curious if anyone got their hands on a copy of it to see what it said.

I thought it had been posted by an Aussie owner somewhere else on the forum but I couldn’t find it.

I did a google search after posting the above and found it, downloaded a copy of the TSB to show them when they claim ignorance next week lol. It was on the forum but for some reason my forum search didn’t find it. Good old google to the rescue again
Pm stingergtss he had it

Thanks mate, I found it after I posted the request. Do you happen to know what was on pages 2 & 3? I noticed it says page 1 of 3.
No I don’t, I just showed it to my dealer at the time, they were not aware, ordered in the oil & changed mine out when it came in no charge.

Did you have the described symptoms or they just did it anyway?

The diff was “tight” first thing in the morning it felt like I was driving with the handbrake on, once the oil warm up it was OK, I had no noises or whine.
Once the oil was replaced with the higher friction modified grade there have been no apparent issues.

Shoulder woke me up, haven't taken any endone since operation.
Make sure you drink plenty of water, eat fruit and you might not have to resort to aperients because endone will constipate you if your'e not careful. ( the nurse in me coming out ) If your'e not taking endone, a lot of analgesia will have the same affect

Had sane thing, dealer just put new oil in no questions asked.

What the hell is an aperient?

I know a few people called Aperient.

Have another Endone and you'll be "driving" Stinger earlier than expected.
