• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

Hi Team Stinger,

Those that have had the PPF fitted, where on the car did you have the film applied? The genuine $400 package is 3M Cleargard fitted to the door cups, the strip across the nose of the bonnet, the front on the bumper and the sill on the rear bumper. Is there an issue with dirt building up at the edge of the film where you can feel the film finish and step down to the paint? Did anyone get their full bonnet covered in the film?

Sorry for all the questions as I just want to make sure if or before I invest. My Stinger has landed and am just waiting to sell my Sportage before I have it registered and take delivery.

Enjoy. :)
I’ve seen exactly what you’re fearful of.....dirt buildup on the edge of the ppf and the owner has cut it back when it looked bad.

NSW Police Recruitment Branch Stinger and Ford Ranger Raptor at the NSW Police Academy for the graduation of class 338. Not an in the wild sighting as such because the first pic was posted by NSW Police Legacy, I just edited it to highlight the Stinger in the second one.
It looks like NSW police have the GT Stinger. Over in WA we have the 'poverty' pack 330S models for police cars.

It’s a loan car for community engagement only as far as I know, not operational. The light bar would most likely be the only operational equipment on it, maybe a radio. I haven’t seen inside it, but we don’t have the Stinger as part of the fleet, they decided to waste money on overpriced 300SRT and BMW. Not sure if it made the news in the west but one of the BMWs caught fire and was completely destroyed after a pursuit near Tweed Heads last week. Combination of a very hot car and very dry grass

Yes saw it, I think it was on Facebook. Were they right in saying $200k of car went up in smoke?!

Sonic went for the complimentary first service today. We had noticed after we had got her home that the right hand interior boot light wasn't working so I bought it to their attention and with instructions not to wash the car. They have so many cars going in most days, sometimes 60 or so that you have to book to say you want it washed anyway.
They found the light wasn't connected, oh what a surprise!
The dash cam remained on but was switched off when they took her for a test drive lol, hope they didn't have too much fun in it.
The fella that drives the courtesy vehicle, whilst taking me back for pick up was advising the Kia service centre/ dealership is moving to a bigger building in Fyans Street, Kia is selling that well, they are having trouble getting enough stock to meet demands. The current place is also Holden and as we know they are not selling. He said " Holden is dead in the water and the only thing keeping them afloat are the Holden Colorado's."
When l do get to 3000k's as only on 905 since 14th June hahaha it's never been in the rain stays in garage till good weather as it's my weekend car..I'll be making sure they don't wash it and also make the service guy walks around car to inspect it before it goes in so as to see no dents or scratches...they should take pics as my daughters car was in for warranty and came back with fresh dent on it..just wish people would take care and do their job in a professional way..:(

You sure you’re not related to me?
That’s exactly what I plan to do next week when mine goes in for the 3k service.

Oh well, it was only a BMW. i would hate to open the sunroof with that light bar on the roof. Wouldn't be a pleasant sound I think.

Kia service staff member did an inspection inside and outside the car before they took it in.
Also I received a text message advising if I had any issues to contact one of their personnel, had the phone number and stated they were glad I chose them and they strive to get 10/10 for their customer service....I was happy.

Probably close to it. The local BMW dealership has the 530d listed at $132,523 drive away. Government fleet would be cheaper but the car would still be about $100,000 at a guess. Then add the cost of the equipment added to it, it would be close to $200,000. Even the Stinger would sit near the $100,000 mark once all the gear is fitted I’m guessing. The car itself is cheaper especially since the police pack is the 330s but the cost of the gear and then cabling etc is where the expense is.

I have found a great place to park my car when I do early shifts. It has room for two vehicles only, I back in and the other car is also backed in so they are not opening their door on my side and there is a good space between us.
I used to park my Optima in the outside carpark and heard about a couple of dings out there so I'm reluctant to park Sonic outside. I pay more to park undercover but I don't mind as I'm paying for peace of mind too.

Took the car into the Kia service centre to have the clip put into the RH interior boot light as it was adrift.
They have moved to a big centre. Great spot and very central to where a lot of the car dealerships are positioned.
They stand alone as " Kia " they were with Holden.
Whilst waiting I checked out their show room. A silky silver Stinger on show, a Snow White pearl outside.
A gorgeous Cerato Gt, but it was a concept car. It had a gloss black spoiler, matching side splitters and front lip.It was turbo and illegally lowered.
It was so sporty and aggressive looking, told hubby " Iv'e found your future car "
Whilst there spoke with a new manager, we talked about the Stinger, he advised " be careful, you don't get caught speeding "
then when I was approaching my car, an older guy said " hope your'e not doing burn outs in that car ? "
you don't suppose others think since I drive a Stinger , Iv'e turned into some sort of hoon, heaven forbid ! isn't that cough, Mustang territory ? cough ! ( I know it's all said in jest )

Hi @Flameangel where was this service center? How would you rate the service? Do they provide loaner cars? Is this the same place you got Sonic? I’m thinking of a 2020 Stinger and just wondering where would be good place to send for service.

Hi @MacDaddy got Sonic in Melbourne from South Morang as they offered best deal we could get but their car detailing and presentation leaves a lot to be desired. However they have a new manager now so things may change.
I live here in Geelong so my service centre is Kia in Geelong, I have gone to them for over 6 years when I had my Optima serviced. They have always been very good, they have a courtesy vehicle that drops me home and picks me up. I'm happy with their service

I had mine in this morning for the 3,000 service and waited for it.
What I found odd was that the service sheet said that “road tested for steering and brake performance.”
I’d like to know how when I know it never left the service department because I could see it.

Also noted and written down was the sunroof rattle with a fix coming in the next few weeks but it was not listed on the service document.

The brakes and steering worked whilst manoeuvring onto the hoist so it was "tested".

Ohh, at my service centre they do take the cars for a test drive.

I live 5 mins from that dealer went there for quote. Spoke with the manager and sales guy, it then took 10 days to get back to me, which in that time l purchased from another dealer so lost sale.
