2022 Kia Stinger Full America Info!!

Ok....For the "random" member or even "new" member for that matter....the idea of making the 2.0/2.5 reach 3.3 performance levels has been chewed to death on this forum and "throwing same amount of cash" around simply meant that if I had just $1000 to spend, I would get more improvements over stock out of the 2.5 than I would out of the 3.3....simple example: plug replacement.... 4 HKS plugs are considerably cheaper than 6 HKS plugs ($120 vs. $180) I could apply the extra $60 towards upgrading suspension/brakes, etc.....no, can't upgrade those parts for $60 (unless you buy parts from a salvaged Stinger....)but you get my point....

Back on track.....I am re-stating the fact that I am more interested in the 2.5T information, personally, vs the 3.3 mainly since the 3.3 Stinger STILL has the 3.3.......the fact the base GT has been dropped is really not "game changing"(more like economics) but a more powerful, bigger, 4pot is......especially, with the power/torque gains....now which powertrain do "you" think the "tuning" community is going to go after?????? Done pretty much everything for the 3.3 already and the 2.0 just wasn't making money for them.....but that 2.5, is a "clean" canvas.....money to be made
I think your are doing a lot of drama, being impolite and thinking that if you believe something it should be true to others... and disrupting this thread from its purpose.

I still believe that the 3.3Tt will always be the tuner car why? There will always be more 3.3TT stinger on the road all year included but also each model years. Many countries do not sell the 2.5T Stinger and most enthusiasts prefer the 3.3T.

if you like the 2.5T fine, it is a nice engine and I am sure it has potential. It is a much better option vs 2.0t and I am happy Kia did this move. Hopefully it will sell well but not in my country since It won’t be offered.

@shoengine Just noticed the star button on the steering wheel (next to the phone button). What does that button do? Thanks!

I was wondering about this too. Did you read this somewhere or is it conjecture? I know the Seltos has it.

Probably the same as the star button on the current radio. You can make it jump to whatever function you want.
I think that AA being wired only is true. The manual specifically states plugging it in. I am going to set it up tomorrow and double check. It'll irritate me if that is true because it severely limits the utility of the QI charger if I can't use it while using Android Auto

It annoys me since the Seltos has it.

i saw the new green color on my local Kia lot this weekend. Thats my new favorite color :) if only we had dark tan seats to match

Looks like they merged some of the 2021 GT and GT1 packages, and did some heavy juggling with some of the other key options. Now you have to go GT2 for the HK stereo, vented front seats and electric suspension, for example. But you get adaptive cruise and front collision with the GT/GT1 'standard'. To me it looks like they're pushing buyers into the GT2, and offering the GT1 as a consolation prize for those unable/unwilling to spend the extra $$$. The couple upgrades for the 2022 GT/GT1 might not add up to $4100 more if that ends up being the increase over 2021's GT pricing.

Is the LSD (Limited Slip Differential) gone?

Main upgrades IMO for both models is remote start and 10.5" touchscreen infotainment, both options coming with the 2022 GT/GT1. [without first hearing the variable exhaust valve, this may or may not be a drastic improvement, so really can't say if this is a worth while upgrade yet]

The 2.5T is going to be a good match for the car, and offer a viable alternative for many cost conscious buyers who may have been looking at or financially forced into pursuing the 3.3TT GT trim. I wanted the 3.3TT with few frills, so by pure luck I got in at just the right time and price.
LSD is standard on RWD GT1 and GT2.

Even with the raised prices, it’s still a deal compared to the competing German brands.
The MSRP for the GT1 and 2 are going to be about 3,000$ more than the 2021 models

I'm not so sure about that. The best thing the Stinger had going for it was it's low price. Now, if what you're saying is accurate, the RWD GT2 will cost more than a standard-AWD Audi S5 Premium. And a AWD GT2 will cost almost the same as a standard-AWD Audi S5 Premium Plus ($55,590 for the Stinger GT2 AWD vs $56,100 for S5 Premium Plus). Kind of strange decision making on Kia's part, IMO.

yeah but if you add all the bells and whistles to the Audi like the Kia has youre over 60 easily.

The biggest part that sucks is the stripping of features from the GT1. I was targeting that model but now I think it's GT2 or bust. No way I'd drop $56K. But fortunately I'm not planning to buy until Dec/Jan. There will likely be some CPOs on lots and/or the 2023 model will be avail, which means I should have some solid discount options (But I guess the same would be true if I were considering those other cars you mentioned).

Hey guys I’m a salesman at Car Pros Kia HB and a stinger driver/enthusiast too. The new 2022 models are coming out way earlier than I expected..... next month March 2021!!! The first model we’re getting is coming in the 6th, the newly colored ascot green GT2. I’ll attach the window sticker so you can see the exact specs. From what I can see now, they’re probably killing the 2.0 GT-line and the bast GT model. The new lineup will be the 2.5 GT-Line and the 3.3 GT1 and GT2. Some of the main new features are going to be the bigger main screen, a full led tail light, 9 more HP due to the new variable exhaust (I think it’s a physically controlled exhaust, not the speaker sound one but a real ass exhaust that you can open and close to increase sound), quilted seats, a CARBON FIBER EXTERIOR PACKAGE, three rim options, new headlights, more LED lights in the cabin, and a electronically controlled suspension. The MSRP for the GT1 and 2 are going to be about 3,000$ more than the 2021 models but for what you get it seems worth it. I’ll update with a video when the first one comes but feel free to ask about anything stinger related here!!! I’m happy to give you any info you want :)
Thanks for the update, I've been waiting for the black/dark package, so maybe the Carbon Fiber might be it? Please feel free to email your number to reach out to you. Does it have a spoiler now on it? All the best, Brad

Not really. The S5 P+ is pretty much equipped the same as the 22 GT2 AWD. The Premium Plus is missing some things (most notable is ventilated seats) but adding others (lotta stuff). I'm thinking there's no way Kia is adding $3k to the price of GT2s. That will kill GT2 sales.

*Edit: If what's being reported here is true it'll also cost a few thousand more than BMWs 440 Grand Coupe. I don't know much about their standard features, so I can't compare the two.

meant to mention this earlier. But go back and look at the OP. The GT2 is 51,290 before destination. Compared to this year at 50,390. So increase is only 900, not 3k. But yeah the diff between the Stinger and Audi look to be tech. If you want the HUD, 360 view, etc the Audi will be over 60. Which those are nice to haves, not have to haves.

The price I came up with was for the GT2 in AWD flavor, since Audis come standard with AWD (AWD adds $2200 to the Stinger's price). As for features, it's a toss-up. Each of them has things the other doesn't. Diamond stitched alcantara, 12.5" virtual cockpit + 10.2" center screen, and stuff I'm forgetting vs ventilated seats, HUD, and stuff I'm forgetting.

You're right about the price on the window sticker. Not sure where he got the $3k increase figure from. Maybe it was a typo. If it was, ignore everything I've written on the subject.
