2022 Kia Stinger Full America Info!!

The biggest part that sucks is the stripping of features from the GT1. I was targeting that model but now I think it's GT2 or bust. No way I'd drop $56K. But fortunately I'm not planning to buy until Dec/Jan. There will likely be some CPOs on lots and/or the 2023 model will be avail, which means I should have some solid discount options (But I guess the same would be true if I were considering those other cars you mentioned).
What got removed from the GT1? Only thing I've noticed so far was the memory seating and power tilt steering wheel.

ECS and the Harman Kardon 15 speakers surround sound system. Other stuff I don't remember now.

GT2 is a real GT2 and cost only 900$ More Vs pre facelift so it is the car to get if you were me. But the cost variance between GT1 is also greater than before... so it might be a financial stretch for some.
 
Yeah, the more I think of how Kia has changed the trims the more annoyed I am. The "GT1" now is more like a GT base, given the GT1 moniker and price (increased), while dropping virtually all the GT1 features. This is quite misleading and will result in future owners of "GT1" being disappointed when they compare their cars with earlier MY GT1s.

(edit to ask: what about the sunroof? Does the GT1 as redefined have a sunroof? Is there a Stinger anymore without a sunroof? Or are the GT-Line and GT1 optional with sunroof now?)

I can see that. I'm not excited about the narrow display in the cluster, it looks a little chincy to me. But a lot of the other features I was never interested in anyway. I wanted a GT with a sunroof and a bigger display, which I got.

I'd be interested to hear the old GT1 stereo vs the new one side by side to see how different they are.

Unless you're an audiophile, I am going to say that there will be little to no difference. The reason being that the speakers used are the same; just six more in the Harman Kardon. That, plus some additional listening modes (e.g. on stage, or audience), and probably ClariFi (which most of us turn OFF anyway; it causes funny sound distributing issues for some listeners), are the only differences. So, more granular distribution of sound is the main difference. As far as quality of bass, middle and treble, there won't be any difference. I could be mistaken about the amplifier being the same; if the HK comes with a stronger amplifier that could make a difference; but wouldn't that mainly be only when you really crank up the volume? The "factory" stereo is just lacking the extra speakers: but it still gets the two floor-mounted subwoofers, which is the really telling comparison, in my humble opinion: had I known that the HK was not the only system with woofers, I'd have not automatically made the HK surround sound a "must have" on my short list: I'd have listened and compared to see if I had to have the HK or not.

I don't believe the speakers or amp are the same from base to HK. There's definitely different part numbers for HK speakers, and I think the HK amp is located in a different spot and outputs much more power overall.

That said, I upgraded the base 9 speaker's tweeters (little harsh at high volumes) and now thoroughly enjoy the sound profile. Really good stock stereo with a $100 / ~1 hour investment. Comparable to the Bose system in my prior vehicle.

Your experience would indicate a difference between sound quality, perhaps; but not certainly; that would be more a subjective thing. That's why I said that given what I've learned up to now, if I were shopping Stingers, I'd definitely spend time with each sound system to see if I had to have a Harman Kardon.

Ah, I didn't know about the different parts numbers between the two sound systems. Your experience would indicate a difference between sound quality, perhaps; but not certainly; that would be more a subjective thing. That's why I said that given what I've learned up to now, if I were shopping Stingers, I'd definitely spend time with each sound system to see if I had to have a Harman Kardon.
I'm not a big fan of the highs. I actually dropped the levels slightly while upping the bass and mids.

I think Kia is afraid everyone who bought a 2021 Stinger is going to be really mad. My dealership just got in two brand new 2021 Stingers today. Those are going to be really tough to sell when 2022 models are sitting next to them.

I have never seen a manufacturer bring out a new version of a car before without even mentioning it on their news site. This is incredibly unusual.
 
I really want a 2022...but it'll be interesting to see what happens to the prices on the 2021s (or even 2020s!) still sitting on lots. Might make my choice a whole lot harder.

On the other hand, you'll be able to find a cost/benefit sweet spot with all that selection since the features themselves are generally the same between model years.
