2020 Stinger Rumors

But Kia has not even confirmed they will continue building the Stinger past this first generation, hopefully they will cuz Im buying it. Hopefully Kia continues perfecting the Stinger over the decades so it becomes a true legend in decades from now. Cheers!

Whether there is a G2 Stinger likely won't matter as to whether the Stinger gets the 2.5T (as well as the 3.5T) as the mid-cycle refresh will (likely) see powertrain upgrades.

I just wish I knew for sure if they were going to have that 3D cluster available for 2020... I'd totally wait for that.

Not sure about the 3D, but chances are good that the 2020MY will get a digital cluster as the K900 already has it.

What would be REALLY cool is if the Stinger also gets the turn signal camera feature that the K900 has if it gets the digital cluster; check it out (fast forward to the 2:41 mark):

Telluride and Palisade both have it at a price point similar to a GT1. No reason why the Stinger shouldn't (except Kia/Hyundai do weird stuff).

Yeah. I test drove both G70 and Stinger and loved them. Kia offered much more discount on Stinger, and I preferred Stinger's design so I got a Stinger 2.0T Premium and so far love it. I hope Stinger does not get discontinued in the future. Stinger's sale is pretty bad in South Korea, but international wise, Kia is satisfied according to their presentation.

Didn’t Rick the Kia engineer, hinted at a R spec GT based of the 3.3 might be coming 2020/2021? Doesn’t that mean any 3.5 rumor won’t be in until after the R spec version?

I think we will see digital gauges, maybe a widescreen center screen and maybe a personal assistant on the inside. On the outside and underneath, maybe custom exhaust, more functional exhaust and different wheels.

I'm really hoping they dont go nuts when it comes time for refreshes. The car is already beautiful and they shouldnt mess with that just because its industry standard. Look at companies like Porsche and how they've created legendary models by keeping the designs current but still keeping the heritage and design language close to the original models.

THOSE are the things that would make this car PERFECT.

I would like to see the displacement go down personally. And higher revs. Different bore and stroke with larger turbos.

Functional bonnet vents and a pre-emptive address feature on the navigator would be nice.

I personally want to see the Stinger be the Stinger a powerful sporty gran tourer car that eat miles and miles with power and comfort. I want Kia or Hyundai to develop a 2 door sports car with amazing power the kind of a car you will drive on the weekends. Maybe a 2 door mid engine V4 TT or V6 RWD light powerful sports car maybe electrified as well.

Having owned a 2019 stinger GT2 since January, some things I could see updated in 2020 are:
Larger infotainment screen (possibly a 10" ultrawide screen with smaller bezels)
Lane change camera on the center cluster screen when changing lanes (like the Telluride)
Ambient lighting on rear door interior
Refreshed Wheels
Rear Stinger script badge standard
Fog light option
Different interior and possibly exterior color options/combinations
Various functional improvements like the lid on the center storage area. a sliding lid would make it easier to get into.

I hope Kia is reading this thread.

2019 Seoul Motor Show is underway....let's see if there's any details regarding the 2020 Stinger in Korea.

As I had stated prior, the new engines likely won't be til the refresh - which under normal H/K schedule. wouldn't be until the '22MY, so still plenty of time for an R-Spec version w/ more boost to the 3.3T to precede it.

Stated many of the same things in a diff. thread.

While a new dash design will have to wait for the MCE - not a good thing when the new Sonata (and presumably, the next Optima) has a more premium-looking interior (even if material quality is not better across the board) - Kia should be able to add a widescreen (easier to do since it's in the tablet format) w/o great expense.

Not only does the Telluride have a more elegant/modern looking screen, but even the top trim of the Soul has a widescreen.

A must is upgrading the steering wheel/airbag cover; the one on the Stinger right now just cheapens the whole interior.

Don't know why they didn't use the cover from the Cadenza (not even asking for something like the K900) or even the Sorento.

The one right now looks like it came off the Forte, a compact economy car (granted, the new Forte is a pretty nice one as compact economy cars go).

Look at tech. & goodies that are in the current Genesis compared to the current Stinger, my guess is that some of the features in that current model will morph over to the 2020/21 Stingers.
I was once told that as Hyundai is the parent company (big brother) the Hyundai models will get all the tech. & goodies first, then 12-18 months later Kia has access to the same tech. & goodies.
For example the Genesis G70 had the 3.3TT in the US for at least 12 months & then they put it in the Stinger, this was the major contributing factor for me buying the Stinger, the drivetrain was tested & proven.

Don't you mean the G90 or G80?

As the Stinger was launched both in Korea and in NA before the G70.

And while it's usually the case, it's not always so.

For instance, the K900 got the full digital gauge cluster before any Genesis or Hyundai model.
