Don't you mean the G90 or G80?

As the Stinger was launched both in Korea and in NA before the G70.

And while it's usually the case, it's not always so.

For instance, the K900 got the full digital gauge cluster before any Genesis or Hyundai model.

Yeah sorry, my bad we are still waiting for the G70. We only got the G80 here in 3.8litre only
We also never got the K900 here either, I didn’t even know such a thing existed until our NA cousins here spoke of it.

The delay in the launch of the Genesis brand is due to Hyundai ponying up the $ to build the boutiques (to be located at higher-end malls or maybe business district).

The Aussie market can be good/bad when it comes to availability of models.

Good - you guys get the i30N.
Bad - likely won't get the Telluride (but Kia is developing a pick-up and likely a BoF SUV for the Australian market)

Re the lane change camera imaging - when the Stinger gets it, it should be the cool one that comes w/ the full digital gauge.

The Telluride (for now) only shows what's behind/and to the side in the display btwn the gauges.

For example the Genesis G70 had the 3.3TT in the US for at least 12 months & then they put it in the Stinger, this was the major contributing factor for me buying the Stinger, the drivetrain was tested & proven.

The first G70 in the US was November 2018. The Stinger was available over a year earlier.

Guys remember what the Stinger cost KIA to make, they're already offering it at a bargain for what you're getting. As much as Id love to see it I wouldnt assume that every bit of best tech KIA has across all models will find it's way into the refreshed model. If they have to pick and choose I hope the telluride infotainment display makes it in.

As I had stated prior, the new engines likely won't be til the refresh - which under normal H/K schedule. wouldn't be until the '22MY, so still plenty of time for an R-Spec version w/ more boost to the 3.3T to precede it.




Stated many of the same things in a diff. thread.

While a new dash design will have to wait for the MCE - not a good thing when the new Sonata (and presumably, the next Optima) has a more premium-looking interior (even if material quality is not better across the board) - Kia should be able to add a widescreen (easier to do since it's in the tablet format) w/o great expense.

Not only does the Telluride have a more elegant/modern looking screen, but even the top trim of the Soul has a widescreen.

A must is upgrading the steering wheel/airbag cover; the one on the Stinger right now just cheapens the whole interior.

Don't know why they didn't use the cover from the Cadenza (not even asking for something like the K900) or even the Sorento.

The one right now looks like it came off the Forte, a compact economy car (granted, the new Forte is a pretty nice one as compact economy cars go).

I don't see the concern. It's just the center of a very spiff leather covered steering wheel. It's utilitarian, but it isn't ugly.

I'm really hoping they dont go nuts when it comes time for refreshes. The car is already beautiful and they shouldnt mess with that just because its industry standard. Look at companies like Porsche and how they've created legendary models by keeping the designs current but still keeping the heritage and design language close to the original models.

Kia dont do radical changes , just nice evolutions ...................it will all be good

I believe thats a photo of the inside of the telluride concept and not the final design. I think the stinger wheel is more suited to the kind of car it is but it should have a bit more of a premium feel. An easy fix would be the airbag cover switched to leather, the two cheap small plastic pieces made with an upgraded plastic and the gloss black plastic peice made of aluminum or something like that.

My issue with the kia stinger wheel is the grain texture they used on the hard-touch plastic. I don't know what it is about it, but it looks cheap. The same can be said for the rest of the hard touch plastics in the front cabin, as it is the same texture. It just doesn't look quality, IMO. I guess it's subjective though. Also, I think the Korean steering wheel looks better partly because of the symmetry of the round emblem and round airbag cover.

You're right, judgment of "cheap" is subjective. Plastic looks and feels fine. The shape in the over all design works. Elliptical KIA emblem works too, because of the 9 and 3 o'clock arms "pulling" on the ends of the ellipse. Etc.

But, I'm not into steering wheels anymore than I am into watches.

Personally, I don't get the hullabaloo about "soft touch plastics". About the only time I touch my dash is to clean it - and hard plastic is easier to clean than vinyl, IMHO. As long as the steering wheel feels good and works well, I don't care if it's made of aluminum, carbon fiber, mahagony, corinthian leather or alcantara. Or "looks ugly".

I care more about how the seats feel and if I can sit it them for a few hours without getting a stick back, than what the hazard light button is made of..

Now, if we're talking functionality.. I'd really like a hatch wiper. My last 3 cars have had them ('90 GTI16v, '94 Corrado, '05 Legacy GT wagon), and I am still worried about missing it. (I'm preparing to buy a Stinger, don't have one yet).

I don't think that you'll miss a hatch wiper on this car. How much detail do you need to see out the back anyway? As long as you can see if traffic is back there that's all you need to know. The side mirrors do most of the clearing.

Telluride steering wheels are in short "supply" with an image search. And obviously I don't know what the production wheel looks like. I don't think that the concept wheel is that good looking. And I don't see the "substandard" assertion in the center of the Stinger wheel. I guess I'm just not that exposed to exotic.
